What did you do in the garden today?

Those red ones are gorgeous! I think the round ones are so cute, but never tried growing them cause I figured they'd be a pain to try to peel, and I don't like eating carrots unpeeled.

only liked them straight from the garden when I was kid wipe dirt of on my pants use a fingernail for the root and top pop it in my mouth

I've never grown the odd colored ones, for some reason, I imagine that they would taste bitter. So, I'd love to hear a report after the growing season about how the flavor of the reds, purples, and whites compare to the plain old orange ones. As a matter of fact, for any of you who grow more than one variety, I'd love to hear a side by side comparison.

Well I should be growing touchon and red cored chantenay this year. So I will let you know how they do! Last year the touchons were VERY carroty.

I don't peel the round ones--like penny, either buff them on my shirt and eat or just rinse. They're tasty!
I'll let you know about the red ones. I've grown purple ones for four or five years and they are delicious- a little spice to them. I can look up the kind if you're interested. The other standby is danvers half long.

Red Cored Chantenay and Danvers half long are old stand by's for me. Unfortunately, I often plant multiple varieties, but fail to label them. I don't do well with carrots at all.

I had some of those but it was late in the season so frost killed the plants. Should have waited but i have no patience left.

You are so sweet! No it's ok i saved a lot of regular pumpkin seeds, they should work fine. I just grow them for fun and to feed the critters. But keep us posted, would love to see some big pumpkins.
