Strawberries are hard to find. I got the roots st the local feed store and some of them took in less than a week. I saw last year Johny seeds had plants but haven’t tried them Seem to have a good rep though
Fedco is not selling any strawberry plants this late?!Johnny's has a stellar reputation, but their prices are... pricey. Check out Fedco Seeds. I actually prefer Fedco to Johnny's. Prices are much more reasonable, and they don't play the GMO game, nor do business with Monsanto.
As for strawberries, you will need to decide whether you want everbearers or short season berries. If you want a hand full now and then but all season long go with the everbearer. If you want a good harvest so you can put up your strawberry crop, go for the short season berries. What grows well for me in Zone 4 may not do well in Zone 6. Check with your County Ag. Extension office to see what varieties perform well in your area.
Freezer for the more delicate ones, but almost everything is in a box with a bunch of those silica packets that get included in stuff. Seems to work well. How do you guys save seeds? Freezer?
