What did you do in the garden today?

Well my husband and I have our new beds in the garden. Greens are up for us and the chicks. I am canning like crazy. Hope all is well with our BYC families that braved the fires in CA and Flo. Salsa today!

I went to a soil class. My husband and I are in the process of soil testing and sending to our local co op for free soil analysis to improve our garden production. My squash and melons didn’t do well this year. Hoping for better next year. I think the soil and lack of pollination caused the problem. Will look for female plants next year and received free Black Eyed Susan seeds on free farm tour to attract pollinators to my gardens. Will plant in spring. I read that we are having a concerning reduction in bee population so planting flowers to attract pollinators may help.

That is true all over with our garden being in tires I am limited put a few vining in a child's
plastic pool to not real deep but the zucchini loved it

I love making salsa my plants are pretty well done for the year

I planted for fall with cool weather plants doing pretty good. So glad I did. It’s my first year growing into fall. Ward is looking forward to Salsa at Super Bowl. I think we have enough for a year in one weeks canning. I’m running out of ideas for jalapeños. I still have the same plants in peppers from spring going strong. I have half dozen of canned jalapeños, half dozen of sweet n sour relishes, 7 jars of jalapeño jelly, and now 6 jars of salsa. Plus I froze a bunch of fresh to use during the fall winter period. This has been my best year for peppers. All from couple plants.

Need to put rubber on go look grass has not dried around them so going out you get wet may have another zucchini more jalapeno also has not rained yet here today although weather calls for it

Hi all...

@Melky I often have better luck in fall than spring where I live. Good luck!

I've managed to keep everything alive in the garden that I planted for the quail. Mother Nature has helped quite a bit with some rain and mild temperatures. The hibiscus and the other thing I planted are also doing well. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that the aloe I transplanted will take root and make it. I'm leaving them until next Spring to see how they go.
