What did you do in the garden today?

Been working dirt filling flowerbeds. Today was beautiful 41* sun slight wind. Great working weather. We are scheduled for rain in a couple days.
I’m over the moon with this little table I found in a yard sale. It’s perfect!
The chickens have always liked the corner by the back door. I got tired of trying to fight them over it. The table gives them another hawk hideout. They nap and hang out under it.

It looks clear enough today to get to the garden and set up the bed for peas. Then I plan on starting more seeds indoors. The leek seedlings are big enough to be moved out from the plastic dome. That will free up space more seeding. If the weather forecast holds out I should be able to move my fig tree outside for the season. I'm glad it got a little colder last night because the mud was easier to walk on this morning. No rain in the forecast until Thursday so hopefully the mud will dry out. Happy St Patrick's Day everyone.

Today the straw bales come out from around the coop and get spread as deep mulch in the berry portion of the garden. Yup, that's right. A third of the state is underwater, but I can finally see my garden! I'm going in. I might get stuck knee deep in mud, but I'm going in anyway! Besides, my berry plants have shipped. Sigh, so I need to be ready for them.

The rest of the day is getting alpaca manure and bedding hay spread deeply around the apple trees and checking on budding progress to set up my spraying schedule.

Mrs. Fox came sniffing around last night. Bold brat that she is, she came right up the back walk at 430am, ran around the back porch and stopped to peer into the back door.
Sightseeing is fine, no stopping for the chicken buffet. (Is it wrong that I hope her den of kits was flooded out?)

So the garden bed dirt is frozen solid. Could not get hoops into the ground. I'll have to scrounge up some bricks and just cover the beds with plastic to warm it up. The experiment with the TP tubes did not go all that well. The leeks were OK, however the 4 tomato seed tubes got grossly moldy. I moved the leeks out from under the cover and tossed the tomatoes. I replanted those tomato seeds in the plastic containers. The Roma and cherry tomato seedlings are starting to sprout already. I planted Russian tarragon and thyme today. I think I need to pick up some more starter trays to finish off my seeds.
