They are alien spy cameras, disguised as mushrooms.:bun

:oops:

back Wisconsin millions of years ago killed a mamma she had two kits did not know that at the time but she was stealing eggs ... found the kits one drowned glass of milk the other lived with us 3 years come in with the dogs for breakfast one day came home he was gone all growed up went off to find a mate

Aww, that sounds sad, but it's like the game of russian roulette is finally over.

I went out to the chicken house one night to close them up and I always squatted down to look under before I closed up under their house. There were 3 smallish skunks looking back at me. I don't remember how, it must have been teleportation, but I was instantly upright and 20' away on the other side of the fence. I don't think I can teleport anymore, so I hope they learned their lesson.

I encounter them regularly. NEVER got sprayed. One time had one rush past me and brush past my pantleg. Rest of my family members are afraid of skunks:idunno

Good morning gardeners :frow

I've decided to play hookie from work today and finish my pavers. I was so tired and stiff last night and thought for sure I would be sore and creaky today. Nope, I feel great! It's so good to get out and get the muscles working!

Have a great day all, I need to go water this morning :)

@MissChick@dee,

I was in the mountains hunting for coyotes. I had on full camo, and I was sitting and waiting for coyotes to come in. The skunk walked up to me, and I assume it did not see me in my camo. Walking straight towards me, I began to panic. Then, it happened. I was sprayed.

Fortunately, in Idaho, skunks are classified as predatory unprotected. I got my revenge.

I probably won't do that again, though. It was an awful smell.

I got home, and I scrubbed myself in the garage with hydrogen peroxide mixed with baking soda. It neutralized the smell, then I took a shower, and scrubbed myself with tomato juice. It worked.

You know Jared, skunks don't see all that well and he /she probably thought you were a nice shady shrub to look under for grubs. LOL! Glad you were able to de-odorize.

@Wee Farmer Sarah

That I did not know. It makes sense, now that I think about it. With me in my camo, with it not being able to see well, there's no way it could have seen me.

Well, lesson learned. You learn something new everyday!

Another thing about skunks that I learned a few years back. They usually hunt / scavenge after dark, however if they are looking for food during the day it's because they have babies and they will stay in their nest at night to protect their kits. I don't mind them as long as we keep our distance - they eat mice.
