I just mite have to take You up on this one.
Will have to wait until after Halloween when everyone that decorates with straw bales puts them curbside. They will rest outdoors all winter and will get plenty of weather rinse so whatever bad is in there may get rinsed out by snow, and rain.
I'm in the city, so straw availability is not that wide, like it gets for Halloween. I think even Walmart sells it then for Halloween decor.
I may try a bale of hay as well. Whats the worst that could happen???

Yesterday during the let up in the weather I transplanted some hollyhocks. They looked pathetic, laying flat on the ground. Then we had all this rain. Today I was shocked when I saw them. They just might make it.

Now that you mention it. I have one of there in the garage rafters. Of course I have no need for it. It would retrieve eggs from inaccessible areas very well

I have a few of those as well. Mine is less fancy from Harbor. Its like less than $5. and I use to do just like pix. Used last to pick up all the small branches from lawn without bending over.

Good morning gardeners. And thank you for the chuckle I get from catching up on all the posts from the previous day. I did not do anything in the garden yesterday. I went to my yoga class and came home and just rested. This morning I need to go to the flea market around the corner and pick up some vegetable plants for a friend. My goal for today and tomorrow is to finish filling the herb garden beds and mow the grass in the back yard. No rain in the forecast. I noticed my bunching onions peeking through the dirt. That makes me feel better. I'm reluctant to put anything else outside after looking at the long range forecast where on Tuesday and Wednesday the overnight lows will be in the 30's. Good gravy, is it ever really going to warm up? My sunroom is starting to burst at the seams with all these veggie plants waiting to go outside. Have a great day everyone.

I'm loving these suggestions!
The opening to reach in is 2'x2', but a grabit, slightly modified might work for reaching in the top area. The cover on one side has fairly open wire weave, something like 3"x2". Maybe squeeze an egg through there. Heaven help me if they're in the far corner under the coop itself.

Good morning gardeners

There's a 20 to 30% chance of rain this weekend, uh huh Today I'm watering.

Went to HD for a cap for one of the feeders this morning. The last time we were there they had lantana 3/$12 and they were still the same price so I got 3 and planted them this morning in the same bed as the hibiscus and the other thing.

I let the littles out of their coop for the first time a bit this morning, they loved it!

Good morning rare hours alone guys are going to dump 65.00 if they pick up 12.00
if we take it recycle and cardboard is free.. We compost so cat litter is garbage
