And of course a cheerful turnip just hanging out, waiting to be picked

Peas finally flowering! The other variety is only climbing - not a single flower on any of the plants! And it certainly hasn't been too warm for them...sheesh!

G'morning gardeners:frow

I watered Wednesday night after the sun went down. Two days in a row over 110* here. Need to deep water the lemon tree, going to get the hose running shortly. I'll be pulling the one tomato plant the ants invaded this weekend, I left it as bait but they've moved to the nice dryish pot of dirt I left out there so I put a bait station out and they're busily taking care of business. I had to flood the area where their nest was a few times to convince them to move.

Have a great day all :)

I am holding out little hope for the garden this year. We are SO wet and cold. We should be in the 70s at night, and we just aren't making it. Days in the 70s are nice, but belong in April and May, not June.

I lost two more tomato plants. They're drowning, I'm sure of it. The root systems just can handle it.

We should be done with beans and cold season, but I just planted mine as the start of the season was too cold.

Such a frustrating year.

Yes, this is so true for so many in the midwest! maybe we will have an extended warm fall - one can at least hope.

I have been working on a pond project this week.

This was bare ground (and weeds). It isn't quite done yet but getting there. I need to build my filter system and top with rocks to hide the drip system.
I will be building a deck that this will be incorporated into next year. I have a giant rose bush that I need to move BEFORE starting a deck. It is over 5' tall and equally that wide.

Good morning gardeners. Cool weather yesterday so mowing the backyard not so bad. My tarragon starts disappeared. I'm wondering if the birds nibbled them away. I picked up some French Tarragon and more lavender at the garden center and planted them yesterday afternoon. I checked the garden this morning and the broccoli is really growing, so I'm excited that I may actually get edible broccoli this year. I do need to get in the garden and do a little weeding before it gets too hot today. The forecast is for low 80's, yesterday it got up tp 60F. Crazy weather but the cool season crops are responding positively. All next week it looks like the highs with be in high 70's. That's fine for me. Still haven't put the AC units in the windows, which is always good. Outside work is pretty much all caught up so I actually have time to relax. Have a great day everyone.

That looks great! Are you going to put fish in the pond?
