What did you do in the garden today?

I'm slacking in the garden. Husband confirmed lung cancer coming back in the scar tissue. Best option removing lung, second option immunotherapy. A board of smart people has to decide which, then we start.
I'll be gone from the boards a bit. Enjoying fresh food though, you guys stay safe and happy gardening!

I’m so sorry to hear this! May his treatment and recovery go as smoothly as possible.

Will be thinking of you, hoping for the best outcome!

I put in a soaker hose this past weekend (way too late) & it really isn't doing me any good. :he It ran for a couple hours last night & not much of anything was wet. I really thought it would seep around much better. Next spring, double the hose & do it before the plants go in!

I have ONE cherry (like) tomato turning orange!! :wee

Good morning gardeners. Thoughts and kind wishes to you @Searsmom. Yesterday I got the front yard mowed. Spent all morning at the service department having my car "diagnosed." They finally figured out why my "check engine" light is coming on. I sure hope it's covered by the warranty. The garden is fine. I am a little concerned about the yellow squash. I see bees around it a lot but I suspect there may be a pollination problem in spite of that. The zucchini plant next to it is fine. I should be picking my first zucchini either tomorrow or the day after. Hi @Sueby. I couldn't upload any pictures yesterday per your request because I was on my phone and the battery was getting low. Here is a picture of the 7 raised beds unplanted. I started with 5 last year and added 2 more this year. I also fenced it this past Spring after finding deer tracks in one of the beds. The letters on my sign are a little crooked now. I need to figure out how to fix that without damaging the pole beans. I love raised beds because they are a bit easier on your back and weeding is minimal. Also, if you are in an area with lots of rain, the raised bed adds another "tier" of drainage to prevent root rot. Have a great day everyone!

I've got a mole in my garden. He keeps knocking over my pepper plants. There's really no good spot to put a trap in there so I've had to go out every day and pile more dirt at their bases to stand them up. Really at my wits end with this pest. Otherwise my garden is doing fine. I'm days away from my first tomato. Ive harvested the broccoli 3 times now. I've got a few peppers growing but I know a mole is knocking them over because they aren't falling in the direction of the peppers on the plant (as if it was too heavy). We've had that happen before. I'm wondering if we should transplant them a little deeper for stronger rooting next year.

Morning all. I'm sitting on the patio with my pups. It's not cool by any stretch, any moving around produces sweat and it's only 0530 here.

The roosters are crowing and the sparrows and finches are busy hunting for their morning meal. It'll be 109 today, it's cooling off a few degrees each day from a high of 115 on Monday. I'll be watering the grass this evening for sure.

Happy gardening everyone.

It's 80F and about 100% humidity. The remnants of Barry are descending on us and the humidity is horrible. The heat is supposed to crank up in a day or two. It's uncomfortable, but we don't have to shovel it. LOL!
