What did you do in the garden today?

Welcome to the garden thread.
Congratulations on your new place.
As Gardeners we see things a bit differently. In our minds we see garden beds & flowers where others just see dirt. We also appreciate the work that goes into it. Big or small, potted or planters or fields doesn’t matter we’re all the same. It’s a labor of love.
As for my Chia~only time will tell. I’ve seen necropsies where the owner said “she just dropped dead” until they discover a screw or wire or nails embedded in internal organs or the crop or whatnot.
One 6yr old hen’s gizzard actually grew around a screw.
It’s in God’s hands. This is a new experience for me so thanks for asking ~ we shall see.
Oh and I think your neighbor is a bit touched to be feeding bears lol. What could possibly go wrong?
For bee’s I planted perennials (hummers’ Too) got those established before I got all my beds filled and amended. This year has been the best so far.
We love to watch each other’s progress. So good luck. Nice to meet you.
Good morning Gardeners :D

Good morning gardeners. Yesterday’s temps were a treat. Low to mid 80’s with low humidity. Got the weeds whacked behind the garden. Only picked off one tick. Icky! I checked the tomatoes and I think maybe a little too much water. I may remove the mulch from them to let them dry out a bit. I only picked a few peas and two small turnips this morning. Not much else ready. My tiny cucumber plant actually has a little cucumber on it. I’m beginning to think my garden is starting to get into the whole “Wee” thing. LOL! Have a great day everyone and stay cool.
Okay ... gotta do it. Ever see the Geico Insurance commercials? The lil pig with the pinwheel sitting in the back seat with the window down.
Wee Wee Wee ... all the way home. :gig

Well I sure hope she's ok. Can a chicken pass something like that?

& I loved your description of the way gardners see things. My friends think I'm nuts about all of it from the garden to the chickens. They just don't get it.

Not nearly big enough! It's 4 4x4 raised beds & a bunch of pots still. I don't have any recent pics, just one when it was going in. Since then it's been fenced in & mulched all around. It's been extended with a few blueberry & gooseberry bushes at the end & pots of herbs & bush type summer squash. I have that little garden packed full! Lots of trellises to try & go vertical, watermelons vining outside the beds & extra plants spread in flower gardens around the yard. Someday I'll have a garden big enough!
:wee:thumbsup
That’s exactly how I started. Except it was a desert patch we built a house on. Sagebrush the cockroach of the desert lol.
First year a fence. Second year the boxes ~ so on.
I have learned allot through trial and error (lots of transplanting). I have lowered or no...changed my expectations because my chickens are are out and about.
I invested in chicken wire :barnie
