Started using our AC. It still cools off at night so open windows are lovely. I cannot believe it’s the middle of July.
It’s hot 95* today. Yesterday I had many wilted plants.
From noon till 4:00 we all go in because the heat just sucks the life right outta ya.
My Hubbard squash has blossoms. I’m still shaking my head on those ... just threw the seeds into the dirt. I only had six seeds from a squash I bought at the farmers market ... 2 years ago! Have a great day Gardeners. Be Cool

My own crazy white dog got in the chicken yard today 2 of crazy lakenvelders one in the garden against the fence, one outside the fence both laying like dead walked up they are find third laying in the grass on her side, lifted her she snuggled in with a little peeps appears was in dogs mouth one scrape no other wounds just soggy but been drizzling all day here

Good evening gardeners :frow

I've been watering and just maintaining but ended with a dead oleander nonetheless. I have one to put in already that's doing fine though, just need some cooler temps. It's 110+ every day with overnight lows in the 90s...super gross out there.

Indoor gardening is more pleasant right now though

Good morning gardeners. Yesterday’s temps were a treat. Low to mid 80’s with low humidity. Got the weeds whacked behind the garden. Only picked off one tick. Icky! I checked the tomatoes and I think maybe a little too much water. I may remove the mulch from them to let them dry out a bit. I only picked a few peas and two small turnips this morning. Not much else ready. My tiny cucumber plant actually has a little cucumber on it. I’m beginning to think my garden is starting to get into the whole “Wee” thing. LOL! Have a great day everyone and stay cool.

Hi guys! Do you mind if I join in? I feel like I spied on you all reading the last bunch of pages  but I enjoyed the read & felt like I needed to comment. :D

I'm Sue, I live in CT. I have 4 chickens and some raised garden beds, hoping to double the beds for next year. Normally I've just had container gardens over the years, but we bought some land & I'm finally able to start a 'real' garden so I'm pretty new to having a bigger variety of plants.

I really worry when I hear about a colony of bees dying. I looked into having hives on my property however the bear population around here makes it difficult. The few hive keepers have chain link and electric fencing to protect against bears. The best I can do is to keep plants that attract bees and not use any chemicals that would harm the bees.
I have been wanting hives but we have too many bears around here & the neighbor insists on feeding, year round, the birds & turkeys & so the bears. So I feel like all I can do is overseed with clover & make DH mow around it so the yard looks a hot mess. He's such a good sport to put up with me & my bee obsession. :lau

Had a slight prob with late blight one yr, overnight killed all our tomatoes, plants turned black, the yr I grew the most varieties ever... I've been using copper fungicide ever since. Haven't had to use it yet this yr cause we were super dry but since recent rain I see some leaves iffy so I'll give them a light spray. Been saving my plants since the bad yr.
Not sure where you bought yours or how much but first time I just bought a spray bottle of it for like $7? Didn't go very far with 30 huge plants... Home Depot had a little jug of concentrated for $7, makes 50 gallons! Bought a pump sprayer and I'm still using the same container now for 6yrs? Still plenty left.
I LOVE Brandywine tomatoes but they seem so susceptible to blight, I had it bad last year. I'm happy to have found this idea. Do you do it only when you see signs of it or is it too late by then - the blight seems to come on quick & decimate over night!

I’m upset. It will shorten her life. In what ways I’ll have to wait and see. She’s a great little chicken. Thanks
How did this turn out? I'm so curious!

Not nearly big enough! It's 4 4x4 raised beds & a bunch of pots still. I don't have any recent pics, just one when it was going in. Since then it's been fenced in & mulched all around. It's been extended with a few blueberry & gooseberry bushes at the end & pots of herbs & bush type summer squash. I have that little garden packed full! Lots of trellises to try & go vertical, watermelons vining outside the beds & extra plants spread in flower gardens around the yard. Someday I'll have a garden big enough!
