What did you do in the garden today?

Good morning gardeners. It was 35F when I got up this morning. Brrr. I noticed some frost on my neighbor's roof and some patches of frost on the grass. I haven't looked at my peppers yet. Will do in a bit. It's 43F now and still chilly in my sunroom. I was so tempted to crank up the pellet stove, but give me a break, it's still technically Summer for a couple of days. Your dahlias are amazing @Sueby. Karen, I used the jalapenos from my garden for the cherry tomato and corn salsa but I had to buy some peppers for the regular tomato & jalapeno salsa. The peppers I purchased seemed a bit spicier than mine. I've never made the green tomato salsa verde before @chickmom3941, however I have used green tomatoes in place of tomatillos when making green chili stew and it worked well. Tomatillos are just a wee bit more citrusy than green tomatoes. I'm making the salsa verde later this morning. And then I will be nearly completely out of fresh tomatoes. I have 4 or 5 left but that's it. I gave a box of tomatoes to a friend at the Senior Center and she gave me some peaches from her tree. I had one with my yogurt this morning and it was so sweet. No plans for gardening today, just making salsa and heading to a concert of Early Music this afternoon. Have a great day everyone.

The above pics are the pumpkins planted in our "super soil", which exploded out of the bed and are taking over the whole area (you can see our picnic table drowning in a sea of pumpkin vines and leaves - lol). They are showing no signs of slowing down yet. The largest pumpkin (last photo) is a little bigger than a basketball, and is starting to turn orange. Even getting a very late start, they are doing well!
