What did you do in the garden today?

So tomorrow is the first day of my 3-day workweek. I've been doing a lot of cooking today, in preparation for work (I try to make meals ahead of time, because I don't really have much time for cooking when I'm gone approx. 14 hours a day). Have a meatloaf in the oven right now, and made some chicken salad to bring for lunches at work, etc. Today is a busy day!
Hubs covered the pumpkins today, as we may get frost over the weekend. Supposed to be rainy (or possibly mixed precipitation) all three days I work, then next week, when I'm off, it's supposed to be pretty nice again. Yay!
I've ordered several seeds over the last few days - and already getting excited for next year's garden. Hope you all have a great 3 days while I'm at work. I probably won't be on here much, if at all.

It was rainy and wet all day with periods of heavy down pour. I went to physical therapy and then hung out with my daughter. Our friend, Craig, got to go home today!

Bonus glad he is going home.. How is you Mom ?
We spent the day Grocery shopping finally get to sit just do nothing

Good morning all. I'm so glad your grass is doing well @Acre4Me. The Nor'easter is hanging around the coast so not much rain here, thank goodness. It's a bit windy from time to time, but not horrible. I did manage to get one of my garden beds cleaned up yesterday. After I cleaned the chicken coop I took care of one since it wasn't raining. I also raked around the front of the coop since the acorns were so deep, again. I'm not sure if I'll make it to the garden today. The annual "tire pressure" light came on due to temperature changes so I need to get the car to the Dealership so they can turn the light off. You'd think it's an easy fix, it just takes forever to wait around until they can fit you in. I'm with you @chickmom3941. I haven't ordered seed yet, however I'm planning on using some space in my basement to setup a plant starter station. I have a large work table that is perfect for it. Along with more cosmetic work on the interior of my house, the grower station is my big winter project. Have a great day everyone.

Morning!

Our little seedling grass is looking good too, though we dont have nearly as much! Just where we dug to run electric to the coop & a few bare spots.

i got some seed garlic yesterday, will compost, plant it & then mulch it. Then I'm going to tear out the rest of the garden (except the lettuce, will hang onto that as long as possible) & compost & mulch for winter. I'm sending in a soil sample to UConn too.

I need to put the heated waterer in the run for the girls so they can get used to it before it's actually needed. They are not fans of change!

We've been hanging onto the nor'easter here too @Wee Farmer Sarah Its very windy right now but not raining. But the rain keeps coming, then sun, then rain, then sun, etc.

Good morning gardeners :frow

So glad everyone is getting their grass to grow! It's been a struggle for us this year because one of the dogs kept digging :barnieHopefully we've got that resolved, but might grab one roll of sod next Spring to fill in some areas. She was digging where the grass was thin after being dormant and has made the issue worse.

This is my weekend off and hubs has to work tomorrow. My son brought me a bag full of bunny poop last night. I'm going to put that in the garden beds and will be planting the carrots, broccoli, onions, and I found some Echinacea in my seed stash. I'm going to plant the sweet peas around a trellis in the middle so they have something to cling to. Not quite cool enough for lettuce yet, but I have a packet of seed for when it cools down. I might try that in a pot instead of taking up garden space.

The donor tomato plant had flowers on it already, and days are still pretty nice, in the 80s, so I'm hoping for a few more tomatoes before the cold temps roll in.

Have a great day everyone!

Glad to hear the Nor’easter isn’t too bad for you also @Sueby. I’m glad it didn’t hit my area too bad as well. I’m so jealous you still have lettuce. I didn’t plant a late crop. The leeks are all I have left in the garden and I’m looking forward to letting the chickens into the garden soon. They haven’t bothered the herb gardens in the backyard so perhaps they will leave the leeks alone. Good luck with the grass.
