What did you do in the garden today?

It's always been really tall and had thick legs.....so I always thought it was a boy. I'm hoping he stays sweet and doesn't bother my big Roo. Sigh. So I guess Penny is now Sheldon.

Good luck! We kept a male GLW that is now 5.5 months old. The numerous dark splotches in his comb tell me he has recently been in “discussions” with the head rooster and based on the cockerel’s behavior, the head rooster holds all the cards in his own favor. But, the GLW is a good boy so far, as he gets out of our way when we move around the run! Hope it stays that way!

Me too. My Roo is 4. He has 3 inch spurs and doesn't put up with crap from his flock, but is kind to his hens. I'm sure he like having a docile #2 to help keep 24 hens in line on all this land.

I swear I've seen him standing in the middle of the acreage just banging his head in frustration some days because then hens are spread to all four corners of 7 acres ! LOL.

I really do not quite understand @WthrLady Sheldon? but have two with no spur of any type large orange type red bigger than a road island would be they roost on the floor with one wheaten colour hen they where bought with never been so doubtful?
Oh Sheldon is because I name them by hatch group to tell who is who and what year. And all after Tv characters. This group WAS Penny, Bernadette, and Amy. But Penny started crowing, so I switched it to a male character from the same show. And since he's super tall and flighty...Sheldon fit.

As for bringing home a boy by accident. I got them as day old chicks. But after a week he started to show little signs of being maybe a cockerel. Then as weeks went on, it was more pronounced. But we've had that happen before and thought they WERE boys, but then an egg shot out. Some of these hybrid breeds just are all over the place with sizing.

His current comb and wattles look just like his sister's comb and wattles. Nothing large and amazing that screams ROO at you. It's OK. I love him anyway. (Unless he gets mean, then he's out of here.)
