What did you do in the garden today?

Afternoon/Evening gardeners. The native aloes we had transplanted in late november are flowering way early this year, not my shocked plants just the others in the local area. I don't know what to make of it other than to expect an early melon harvest as those things usually flower in March. Thankfully I have my tomato and melon seed ready!

SUNNY clear and 51 degrees...in January. Again, not complaining.

Spent the day working on the bathroom. I need DH to lift the giant mirror while I reach behind and get the wire on.

I can either lift it, or put the wire on, but not both.

The genius' that built the bathroom didn't center the light fixture on the vanity. I decided to center the mirror on the faucet, not the lamp.

I just need to seal the edges of the floor and tub, fill the nail holes in the trim, and have the plumber around to check the sketchy pipe in the tub and install the fixture in there. OH I do need to hook up the supply under the sink and the drain Ubend. But no more today. Enough bending for today. E-NUFF.

I put up another high perch in the coop. I thought they might like sitting in the upper window. I should let them out for a bit.

Hope everyone had a great day.

I'm sorry but you folks posting your high temperatures has me thinking about the need for nipple tape. We are expecting mid 80's soon.

ARE YOU KIDDING??!?!?! I did my hours worth of chores this morning in shorts and a jacket ! (it was 23 degrees!) Now it's spectacular (considering what it USUALLY is this time of year, 20 degrees with windchills at or below zero. and lows - you don't want to know)

We moved here from Florida - but I prefer the cool, not cold, not frigid. This is winter at my florida house temps. I'm good. It's making up for last winter.

We'll be at a heat index of 118 soon enough.

Well we will be putting in the melons soon enough, apparently our carrot/spinach was ill timed again this year. The Brussel sprouts still look good but I do not expect results as they have yet to show any fruiting bodies but they are growing huge otherwise. The sugar snap peas are coming up nice we will see. Totally not a farmer I just want to make a profit on a 3 dollar seed pack!

Ever read the $64 Tomato? https://www.amazon.com/dp/1565125576/?tag=backy-20

I laughed so hard I cried. We've all been there. We joke that our first egg cost $4000. All the rest have been free.

Even though I sell eggs, and product, and alpaca yarn and fiber, I don't make a profit (and that's not even calculating in time and effort). Heck I don't even break even. But it's value in quality and entertainment and life experience is priceless to me.
