What did you do in the garden today?

Good luck with the garlic! I've tried to grow it and haven't had any luck. I even went to a class on how to grow garlic! I guess I flunked :lau
Sorry to hear that you are still under the weather. I hope you feel better soon!

yeah, not expecting much, I’ve heard many people say they’ve had no luck. But it’s a stick-in-the-ground and wait about a year kinda thing, so maybe it will be like our fig plant- walk around the corner and say OMG-how did that get so big!

glad your job is starting out well!

Well, 4-H kid picked a gardening project book, good thing I have a few raised beds out back 🤣.

blue skies quickly clouded over, so the day was dreary. Some schools in the general area were closed today due to the fog, which surprised me bc it was pretty clear at my place by 9am when I heard that some schools had closed.

Still on the hunt for some fruit trees.

Hi guys. I've been MIA for a while, I hurt my back very badly & have been out of work since Christmas. Took a bit of a step back from the internet for a while just to make sure I could, lol! I'm sure some of u have seen the news on the man that murdered his wife, 3 kids & dog...that was my physical therapist, he rehabbed my shoulder after surgery. :(

The garden is just sitting there covered in leaves but I did notice some confused little daffodils popping up! Picked out the 3 baby chicks we'll be ordering soon, can't wait for that! Also excited cuz my neighbors will raise them till they can go outside - yay!

Have a great day ya'll!

Good morning all. The January thaw is definitely over. We now have a heavy wet snow that knocked out my internet satellite. I’m happy despite getting back to Winter since I feel good about getting some outdoor projects done. Tomorrow morning is going to be around 10F. Brrr! I got the new compost pile started so I can leave the big one to breakdown now. It should be good to spread on the garden beds in the Fall and finish off over next Winter. I need to firm up my vegetable and herb list so I can make my shopping list. I’m considering putting in some asparagus plants this year. As far as regular onions and garlic, I use so much of them both that it is more practical to buy them. And they are not expensive at all. Good to hear you like your job @karenerwin. As far as the nurseries @Acre4Me the ones around here are closed until Spring. Have you tried any located in Oregon? Just a thought. One of my older hens is definitely laying again. Not every day, but still it’s a start.

Glad to have you back, you were missed. Too weird about your Physical Therapist. I’m thinking of trying to hatch some of my chicken’s egg this year. We’ll see.

It is pouring buckets and will for the next several days. I'm going to move my veggie patch back to where it was year before last. It produced there. When I rotated last year and planted where the chickens had weeded for me, I didn't realize that it was a squirrel thoroughfare. I basically made an "all you can eat veggie buffet" for those %&^# squirrels. So I'm going back to my original spot.

I did onions last summer & loved having them because they had a much better flavor & were more potent than store bought but you are right @Wee Farmer Sarah I can't ever possibly grow enough! I planted garlic in the fall & I'm sure that will be the same. I asked friends about asparagus & they said it wouldnt be worth the space & time for my little garden, they gave up on it long ago. I was happy they said that in front of DH, he loves it & I hate it! Lol

I'm missing winter so bad. I want snow!!!

Good morning gardeners. It's overcast and dreary outside. I don't mind, matches my mood today.

Once this passes we're expecting highs in the mid 70s so coop painting will commence. It'll be nice to get outside and get some sun and do some work. Weather permitting I'll get the inside whitewashed in a couple weeks.

I need to weed the garden and prep the soil for whatever I decide to plant soon. I want some jalapenos and a few Roma tomatoes and that might be all I have room for. I use them for salsa and love the tomatoes dehydrated. Like, really love them. @WthrLady. Love the fog! We get it once in a blue moon here. @karenerwin. I hope your new job goes well! I'm job hunting now, haven't had to do that in a long time. Have a great day everyone.
