What did you do in the garden today?

I think I finally have a broody. Although she is NUTS! It's Freya, one of my Icelandics. We affectionately call her the scream-a-pillar. (simpson's.... google it) No one would dare go near her. I can't decide if I want to let her BE broody as she's an easy break. 12 hours or less if I want to. I guess it would just cost me 6 eggs to find out.

Just partly cloudy today. The sun was out and it was in the 60s. We enjoyed the weather. DS was right by my side helping me build three raised beds. I need to take apart the old ones now and reframe them while moving then. Then I need to move a lot of soil into the beds. Tomorrow is rain. I may be able to take apart the old beds Sunday and reframe them if I can get some lumber. The soil will probably be too wet to stick a shovel into though.

So glad I make meals by the month and have half a cow in the freezer. Just saying. I do grab a couple things at market just to make the freezer last a bit longer. When it is limit one. I get the biggest piece I can and butcher it down. Most people don't know how to do that. I can also grind meat to my own purpose.
We seriously need another icebox. Ours is 18 x 24. It.is.pitiful.

My pop and gpop did that with bison and venison. Esp. during the war. They'd either get it by their own means or from the butcher and narrow it down. But seriously, we need another icebox. We just don't have the capacity (at the moment) to cure and keep fresh meat in bulk. I need to show DH this commentary, WthrLady.

OMG! They're a hoot!! My five year old BC still goes broody from time to time. We just can't believe it. Old lady still cries!! I would test out the BE broody mood. You never know! Could be a winner winner broody layer on both ends!!!

She's also a biter and ripper. LOL. I don't even want to bother her. LOL.
I'll try her.
I hear you. They can get nasty with you. My fiercest broody was our Blue Swedish duck, Pippa. I'll never forget that snake she took out that tried to steal her clutch...they're actually amazing, just leave them be!

OH no, she's a biter and ripper on a normal Day-to-day basis. Broody she should be just magical.
