What did you do in the garden today?

Finally sorted all my seeds today for the first time in forever aaaaaaaaannnnnnndddddddd..... I think I might be a little bit of seed hoarder or addict or something. 😂🙈

I have ones all the way through 2016 to this year.

I never grew butter lettuce but did grow green leaf lettuce very successfully last year. When the head looks like lettuce from the store take it. If you wait too long it can get coarse and bitter I found. Any sign of a stem shooting up to eventually produce seeds and you better take the head right away. I was pulling the entire plant last year, but have since read that it's better to cut with a sharp knife just above the dirt.
I love butter and its a good lettuce to grow! :love

re: harvest...we start with the thinnings. Then you can move to picking the outer leaves or by pulling up the entire plant. However, as @BReeder! mentioned, I rarely pull up the entire plant. I find it better to snip (or use a knife) the leaves at ground level. Enjoy!!

I'm trying Boston Bibb this year. It's small, but I enjoy it's taste and texture.

I think the sun has officially abandoned us! (Yes, I am being dramatic.) But we've had rain/snow showers on/off since last evening and its making me cranky.

Trying to maintain gratitude, I received a notice for me seeds! They're now in Fontana, CA. Hoping to receive in the next few days!!

@pinknblackchaos and @karenerwin -- I love making syrups! And a million times better (and healthier) than that crap you get over the counter. If you have a chance, check out Penelope Ody 'The Complete Medicinal Herbal'. Hubby brought it home a LONG time ago as a library donation and I consider it golden. All sorts of stuff to make!! 🌺

Hugs to All! I'm going to make a fire before supper and since its 5 o'clock somewhere (meaning here!) that means I'm off the clock and busting out the corkscrew!!!

I am a huge fan of most lettuces as they are easy for us to grow. Bibb is no exception! I love the tiny varieties with different textures and tastes. Good 'old arugula remains a favourite. Anything spicy is right up my ally!! 🌶
