What did you do in the garden today?

@WthrLady here are some pics of the frame last year. It was screwed into the raised bed, and jute twine used for two inverted triangles for growth. This was 4 rows of seeds planted in 4’ rows. Height was approx 8’, and they could have used more room to grow. These pics taken about 1 week apart in 3rd to 4th week of July.

so, not super attractive. Now that we know we like pole beans, spouse has drafted 4’ wide trellises similar to this, BUTmore attractive. The top will have decorative cut ends. Two sides will have 2 ladder like steps For the purpose of climbing up higher to harvest higher pods, so need for a ladder not so important. Of course, with dried beans, could just wait for them all to dry and cut strings. For fresh eating beans, would be good to have the ladder on the sides. Height will be 10’ (9’ above bed height).

I never have not seen it either the artichoke plant come to think of it
Ma made one but boiled to death was awful even Dad gagged with it
so would need a better way to prepare it .. Does it grow mostly in Mexico
and Arizona
Penny they pretty much grow in any USDA Hardiness zone. They just need a bit of a winter chill to produce. They reall grow well in Brittany France too.

I have never seen an artichoke plant!! @igorsMistress what is that plant with all the pods or whatever those are on it? It's cool looking, whatever it is! I'm guessing either it won't grow here or I don't like the taste of it (if it's edible), lol.

That's funny, that's what I have for a couple of beds, leftover 1x4 welded wire zip tied to a tpost! I won't go to the store so I figured I'd work with what I had but wasn't sure if it was a good idea or not.

I haven't had dill, despite planting tons of it, in years. I end up buying fresh from the grocery store. This year I think I'll plant a pot just for the caterpillars & move them off of 'my' dill & see how that goes.
Are you talking about this Sueby? It's an inedible succulent, string of pearls. It's hanging out in the center of my garden and I love it!

California is the biggest grower in the US I think but they'll grow anywhere pretty much.

Here's a mature plant pic, not mine but I've posted tons in the past
