What did you do in the garden today?

Thanks for the education guess showed BF how they grow.
He said never had one do not want one.:smack
Lol they take up a ton of room Penny. Mine were at least 5 feet tall and as big around. That's a lot of room fir something if you you're not going to eat it. Maybe try one from a grocery store to see if you like them first.

Aloha all and happy Sunday!
Yesterday I popped a rib out pulling toast out of the toaster (or moving big blue pot with palm the day b4) for our Koke'e work day picnic. After doing my best to stretch and pop it back in I spent the rest of the day with a heating pad, ibuprofen/acetaminophen and the channel changer... once I could get into a sitting position that is...
Almost back to 100% today! Whew- that was sore!

I think the Macarthur palm seeds make me a grandmother because I started parents by seed years back. Neat time warp when looking at it through that lens.

Garden spider doing a great job guarding. Still floating in tomatoes. :D

Caged cherry toms are fantastic, mini interim seedlings fine and waiting for lettuce seeds. In the past reseeding has been some of my best lettuce beds so will do it again.

Loaded up a rubbish can of horse poop and will dig my hole for the Soursop this eve. Watering lawn with well water now.

Kitchen/chicken poop/nesting material compost is 2 weeks old and close.... :)

Rolled the dice and put a couple tomatoes out in the raised bed with a couple sweet basil between them. Potted up a few more and put a potted okra, basil, and a Jimmy Nardello (our favorite sweet pepper) on the deck of the greenhouse. It's sheltered there and gets a lot of sun.

@TropicalBabies Love the orchids, hate the spider :)

Mother Nature’s garden is starting to grow. Last night, I took a walk and snapped this pretty spring pic. Yay for warm and sunny weather!
Beautiful picture! It'd be great framed on the wall. And you are mistaken, those bean trellises are beautiful!

If she makes it to 4 pound I would say that she is a lovely pet quality Sumatra. The red face or bleed through is very hard to get rid of. Half of our Sumatra have red faces, but there isn't a single hen I would cull. They all have names and they react to their names if you call em up for a treat.
@AllenK RGV Oh boy! She's lucky if she weighs a pound wet!! :lau

So maybe she is a cochin bantam. All I know is that I love her dearly and she's hell on wheels regardless if broody or no. In fact, I just went to check-in on her and she screamed at me like a bloody banshee!! Social distancing at its finest!!! 👿 🐔👻

I can't remember who was asking about artichokes (apologies!) but we grew them with great success when we lived in Alpine, CA. (Zone 9a, 9b and 10a.)

I haven't tried them up here yet (Zone 8b) but do have seeds that I'm waiting on to be delivered.

All I know is that they love water and to be fed often. Caveat: they also attract a bunch of nasty bugs (think the same issues that broccoli, Brussels sprouts, etc. have) so its good to have a water power sprayer on hand as they grow stronger and stick readily to the ground and roots. Or you can just float right-side up in a bowl of warm H20 and flush out the bugs with your fingers before consumption.

Anyways, they're fun to grow. And like asparagus, will keep giving you good gifts throughout the years!
