Didn't actually do anything in the garden persay. Found out from the local meterologist (he's accurate 97% of the time) that we're supposed to have freezes until the first week in April! That's unheard of here. Very frustrating! So I repotted my current seedlings into bigger pots and will start more seedlings tomorrow.
Well, my computer isn't playing tonight or I would post a pic of our finished hanging strawberry gutter garden. It wasn't exactly as easy as all the tutorials we read about it made it seem. We couldn't find all the parts we wanted to use to begin with so ended up having to make do with some things. The most complicated part was getting them to hang level. We ended up adjusting it several times to get it to hang right without the dirt pouring out. But it is finally done!
And I have 18 strawberry plants planted. Thinking about building another one on Friday and getting another 18 plants. We'll see how the finances go.

Today I built a homemade wall-o-water out of two liter coke bottles. The jury is out on whether it works or not, I'll have to let you know later this weekend when we have some more colder weather to test it out with.
But here's the pics of the strawberry planter.
Here it is completed and planted. I worried that it would swing badly in the high winds we have here but it was windy today and it moved a little but not much. And this morning when I went out, all of the plants were happy and standing up tall. We only drilled a couple of drainage holes because it gets really hot here in the summer so we wanted to conserve as much water as we could. They do have the added bonus of watering the tray below as they drain though.
We didn't opt to buy the end caps that come with the gutters because they were $3.50 each and the whole 10 foot gutter was only $5.35, so we traced the shaped onto 1 x lumber and cut out end plates and screwed them on. They worked great.

This looks awesome! We haven't started our guttering planters yet, probably this weekend. Good advice on the end caps, I saw the same here: they cost as much as the gutter itself!
