What did you do in the garden today?

I don't want life to go back to normal, I love being a hermit! :lau

@WthrLady it's an executive order from the Gov in CT that you have to wear a mask in public if you can't stay 6 feet from others. If you go into a store everyone has them on. I prefer to just stay home & have everything delivered, LOL.
Bummer.

Same! :lau
Just me and my chickens...and my dog, and my hamster...and my fish. Crazy animal woman here!
Guilty! I'm a natural born hermit but the DP isn't so this has been harder for her than me.

Only 1/3 acre roughly. I believe it measure 85'x150' all together. That includes the front yard, house and back yard. The backyard is roughly 85'x60' if you exclude the patio and sunroom. It is not huge, but I plenty of room to have some fun. Plus, the more garden, chicken run, etc; the less grass I need to cut. It still takes nearly an hour to cut all of the lawn though.
Ours is 1/3 of an acre too, but 132 x 135. I wish we could have gotten a full acre but this is probably smarter. We'd have just filled it with more livestock, ooo and more fruit trees, and a place to really plant corn, and and and... :).

I got the news today that insurance will quit paying for my Mom's stay in skilled nursing. Yes, she has been there since her surgery several months ago.
I'm so sorry, I hope it all works out.

Got everything watered early this morning and took the top off the kiddie pool so the flock can enjoy the grass. I also gave them a squash I left too long before picking; the skin got thick, tough and started getting bumps like a gourd.
Love that grass pool, going to do that or something similar, and our hens will be getting the inevitable hidden zucchini that become huge.

Just finished my mushroom bed of wine cap mushrooms . Lots of sawdust and planer shavings . Now the long wait .
Do you raise other mushrooms? Does it take much space?

Raining and chilly today so other than the greenhouse, no watering today. I got a bunch more tomatoes repotted yesterday and moved a couple of the biggest that had actually developed flowers out to the raised beds. The basil in the greenhouse has gotten kind of leggy but that's fine, it means I can start clipping it for the kitchen. Some pasta salad would be nice, and I have to make spaghetti to take to a sick friend on Friday.

Thinned my Carrots, tossed poop in Orchids and White Bird of Paradise. Checked seedlings- all tomatoes are up and cutting of Cherry Tom has taken too. Admired peppers, radishes, kale and toms and then picked another 6 toms. Trimmed my Clerodendrom, turned compost, played with chickens

I'm with the lay low and stay safe crowd :love. My medical industry kids are building a quarantine apartment on their lower garage level for the "relaxing" of stay at home, plus one has had to quarantine once already- to keep their two beautiful small babies safe. I stay at home for them even though they are 3,000 miles away. I also stay home for those who have to stay working, my 86 yo auntie and my 66 yo hubby, my nurse friends, the 6 respirators our island has and those whose lives could be ultimately effected.
My island community did such a good job with buttoning up (fresh air and sunshine helps) that we have no cases. I will continue to respect the situation because it is easy for me to do and I am grateful.

No incubator for me on the feed stores delivery, maybe next week lol. So, I went back online looking. The one(s) I like are upward of $400., the cost to have a tray of 42 eggs done for me is $20. plus gas and travel. I think I will wait to see what the feed store gets and continue on to continue the same. I really like the breeder who is hatching for me and the chance to talk chicken with him. Plus it helps put the energy and effort in the right direction for now.
People have wanted adds on craigslist and Buy and Sell to buy chickens. Feed stores are months out for anything and will more than likely just wait till fall.

Mango trees are dropping leaves like crazy, it looks like fall outside. I'm going to rake up a few rubbish barrels full and dump in the chicken run after we come down from Koke'e. That ot to be fun for the feathered kids.
