What did you do in the garden today?

Several 3 foot mulberries potted up; peas are popping up and got the natural branch trellis in place just in time ( peas are short 2.5-3 footers). Lettuce not doing much yet. DH bought several cuke varieites-- didnt get any planted yet. Temps have dropped again with snow west of us. Chilllllllly and cold for the rest of the week.

Parsley popped up overnight!!!!!

Burned some garden debris and limbs . Ummm lets call it a controlled burn . Yeah that sounds good . Burned about 1/4 acre of leaf litter in the edge of the woods . Kept me busy for awhile . Note to myself . Get the hose hooked up first . I am getting to old for this .
HA! I learned the "get the hose hooked up first" thing a few weeks ago when I decided to burn a large pile. Let me say that the 30 seconds or so it takes to run back to the hose and get it turned on and head back to the burning area of the property feels MUCH longer than half a minute.

I built this!

That is our first growbed. 12'x4' and 10" deep. It is now plumbed, filled with media and set on a timer. The hardest part other than hauling the stone in a wheel barrow was getting the drain hole determined so that it would fill in 15 minutes and take 45 minutes to drain. Tomorrow I go buy stone for the second one and this weekend.. wait for it....... we plant veggies!!!!

We are also planting 3 venus fly traps and 1 or 2 trumpet fly traps in each bed to help fight the crazy amount of flies we have. To the left in that picture you can see the horrible green water of our duck pond. That thing smells to high heaven right now and is drawing flies. We'll use the carnivorous plants as a long term insect preventative and full time natural filter for the water.

I harvested some ground cherries, kale, and moringa leaves. I got another nice handful of mulberries from my dwarf tree.

I've been enjoying them so much, I'll miss them when they are gone.

Yesterday I watered and picked these

Tomorrow I'll pick some snap peas behind the artichoke and blueberry
Blue berries already? What's wrong with this state? I have been eating the strawberries, but the blue berries are still green.
Wait, you mean they are situated behind the blue berries. Okay... I forgive my state.
