No clue what these little weeds are, but the flower is pretty - much more bright blue IRL

It's a tradescantia (spelling?). Chra-di-scan'-shu. Also known as Spiderwort. Food! Some is smooth and some is hairy.
But not all the leaves in the photo are tradescantia. The leaf to the left of the flower might be goldenrod (medicine!).

morning all,cool here this morning rained during the night .yesterday i moved my old hydrangia it was getting smothered with weeds and other plants ,took me about an hr ended up having to chop some of the roots with the axe ,it was so heavy had to drag it couldn,t lift it ,all the time thinking why do i do these things at my age (72) replanted it and this morning it looks happy in it,s new home .i also replanted spring onions they look happier in their new place among toms and herbs .the last few years i have neglected parts of my garden but being in lockdown made me take a good look at it so now i,m getting stuck in and making progress .i am taking photos as i go will post when i can get my tech person eg youngest grandaughter to show me how .have a nice day !

@karenerwin so sorry you had such an awful time with the moving company. Sounds like a nightmare.

The hay equipment is 99.9% done. I got the PTO shafts back from the shop. Guys did a rush job for me as I need to cut Thursday. Nice guys.
Now I just need to install them. I am so sick of drinking Gatorade. BLECH.
The heat index is well above 100 and the Sahara dust is just thick. Storms are on the way.
Out to install PTOs and spray the tomatoes, and plant two more. LOL.

I can't stand Gatorade so I bought an electrolyte powder to mix up, not here yet so I haven't tried it. But when it's hot I sweat a ton & get awful muscle cramps (been getting them in my back!) at night so I can't wait to try the powder.

Great to know the jerky turned out well Sueby. Did you add the curing salt? What was your process if you did?

I did add the pink curing salt #1. I loosely followed this recipe, I liked it because it had the soy & ginger of the other recipe that sounded so good & also the salt. Apparently you have to be careful with amounts of the pink salt, it can be dangerous if you use too much. I just didn't use the coriander, lemon or curry. I let it sit in the fridge for almost 24 hours. Attempted to roll it & cut it, which was no fun & I have no helpful tips, nothing helped & I will never do that again, LOL. Then it went in the machine at 160 for like 8 hours. I doubled the recipe, 2lbs of hamburger, & got 8 trays. https://www.jerkyholic.com/jerkyholics-original-ground-beef-jerky/

Pips last night and more this morning! None of the chicks are out...just the first breakthrough of the shell. So, Hopefully a day full of chicks hatching. I have 20+ eggs in, two with question marks - might be quitters. Maybe some cute chick pics later.


Garden wise - the *&#%@ cucumber beetles (yellow and black striped) have made their appearance So I'll need to see if we can control them better this year. They wiped out all cucumber productivity last year and seem to impact/spread disease in the squash as well.

& I feel your pain on the beetles, I'm battling mexican beetles right now. They drive me so crazy that I squish them & leave their dead bodies displayed out on the leaves as a warning to what will happen to their friends. I may not be right in the head.

Glad the jerky turned out well. Yes, bay laurel is what we commonly know as bay leaves.

I was wondering if that was one and the same. I use a lot of bay leaves in my cooking when we have poultry, love that stuff!

I thought I was the only one who left bodies as a warning.
