What did you do in the garden today?

I was a good kid, got the mowing done then laid out the plain soaker hoses for most of the trees and shrubs. Helped DP get her quaking aspen planted, mulched and soaked thoroughly. Did the raised beds and deck watering. As a reward I get to post cool stuff:

It's one I took some root cuttings from our old house and moved here.

Bee Balm, took a long time to bloom but worth it:

A mock orange that we had in a pot for a few years at the old place and never got it in the ground. Planted it in February and it's very happy:

And some assorted roses, hardy, heirloom varieties.

Beautiful! Thanks for sharing.

Irrigation plan.
I hope it makes sense.
I only use Rainbird irrigation hose. It has a green stripe down it and I find it at Menards. Other brands kink too easily, or dent and then leak and they aren't 1/2 inch.

Don't use COMPRESSION fittings. OH what a nightmare when they blow. The hose gets soft and flexible in the sun and doesn't contract until enough cold water flows through. Compression is a nightmare

I use the barbed fittings and I get those at ACE hardware, also by Rainbird as well as the 1/4 inch tubing and the female and male end pieces and caps, which are hanging in the HOSE repair section. You will need 1/2" size.

I screwed up my drawing on the upper beds. I made the T connector in the wrong direction. It needs turned so it is an upside down T in the bed with a short piece of hose and a hose end and cap on it so you can drain the upper bed and the lower bed separately in the fall. L elbows make the turn at the top of both sides of the beds and then a normal hose curve to the lower bed is fine.

You simply cut your hose to length and shove the connectors into it. for the hose to the plants you poke a hole and shove the 1/4"hose with a barb shoved into it into the larger hose. The other end of the 1/4inch has a sprinkle end on it of your choice. You can make these 1/4 inch hoses as long as you want and move them from plant to plant from year to year. You can clothespin them to a trellis or sticks or whatever.

There is also a pair of Ts uphill of the beds with ends and caps on them to drain the system uphill of the beds in the fall. You drain and leave the caps off all winder.

The whole hose is just laid on the ground and held down with landscaping staples, also menards (garden center).

So length of the black rainbird 1/2" hose.
roll of the 1/4 inch tubing.
Pkg of 10 barbed 1/4 inch connectors
pkg of sprinkle heads of your choice

landscape staples

1 -1/2" female hose end
4 -1/2" male hose ends
6- hose end caps
8- L -90 degree elbows
4 -T shaped connectors

A rainbird tool. I prefer the one that looks like a funky scissor/stapler. It cuts AND poke holes.
Ask if I screwed up or you have questions.

@NightingaleJen due to covid the assisted living place is only letting in 1 moving company and they picked which moving company they were allowing.

@NewBoots I love the close up picture of the wildflower garden. It would make a fabulous puzzle!!
Helped my friend dismantle more of her greenhouse. We got out the 3 front panes of glass. They are about 3/8 to 1/2 inch thick and 3 ft wide by 6 ft tall each. They are heavy son of guns to move!! That was all we got done today. My friend ended up getting sick right at the end, I guess she didn't drink enough water or something. She was feeling light headed and then ended up throwing up. I got her a cold towel and some Power Aid. Her hubby got home from work and helped me load the 3 glass panes into the van and then helped her inside to cool off.
Also got a phone call about my Mom. Not sure what is wrong with her. They said she is acting "off". Not eating or drinking and just very tired. However, she is lucid when asked questions. They were going to have blood work done. Her lungs sound clear but her heart rate has dropped into the 90's. Probably won't get blood work results back until the wee hours of the morning. They had a mix up with the orders and they were put in for tomorrow at first, but then they figured out that mistake ( I guess when no one showed up to draw the labs) . So they finally got drawn around 6:30 or 7:00 PM instead of around 1:00 or 2:00 this afternoon.
Tomorrow I will plant the plants that @Birdielee sent me!!

Your friend sounds like me. I tend to do things like get too allergic and get lightheaded and throw up! I hope she feels better by tomorrow.

If you don't get to plant like you want to, my mom says the plants she just "Heels in" always seem to do better than the ones she really plants. So, if it comes down to it, just stick em more or less in the ground somewhere. (Somewhere you wouldn't mind a 15 foot tall clump of elderberries.)

Sounds like you have your hands full

That would have hurt like H E double hockey sticks! So glad you didn't end up under that thing Karen! I'm sorry to read about your mom, I sure hope the docs can help.

Love the pic of the pups!

Be sure they check her for bladder infection, that can cause some odd confusion like symptoms as weird as that seems. Loved the puppy-butts pic!
