What did you do in the garden today?

Score for the coop! I found this antique radiator cover at the Habitat Restore in Norman. It came out of a really old sorority house. The long side is 7 feet,

so I can cut it in half and use 1 grate for ventilation on the bottom of the North side and the other half at the top of the South. There is also a smaller square grate on the other side that I can incorporate somewhere or save for later.

@littledog, I'm so sorry for the loss of your two puppers. I imagine they're playing happy, healthy, and strong in green meadows with shady trees to nap under.
The other areas that I sprayed seem to have no ants but I put out sime baits anyway.
We don't get ants too bad here at all but the baits have always worked really well for us. But the bait has to be something they eat enough of to kill the queen and some ants don't care about sugar stuff.
Birds are going to be ticked off if I keep them locked up for days on end for a fox, especially with the hyper bouncy 7 weeks olds out there with them. I think my 6 year old grandma hen went "broody" just so she could have a place in the spa, in front of the fan, in the woodshop with the tv and radio just to get away from them. LOL.
It does sound rather like a spa day doesn't it?
I'm so dumb. Hottest, most humid day of the year & I decide I'm gonna put the soaker hose out in the garden. It didn't take too long but I finished & was calling the dog to come in & I almost passed out. Still feeling weird. Def not the smartest of the bunch here.
Drink some pedialite or gator aid or whatever of the hydrating stuff you can stand. Please be careful with yourself, dehydration can mess you up.
OUR CHICKS JUST SHIPPED OUR CHICKS JUST SHIPPED! :jumpy :jumpy :jumpy Finally! I am so excited! :D :D :D :D
Will probably throw some fast-growing flower and mustard seeds into the garden tonight once it cools off.
Grats on the chick shipping. Pics when they arrive! I get the flower seeds but why mustard?
So grateful for today, food and friends and of course chickens.
I constantly feel this way (when I'm not in a funk about things). DP and I are so lucky to be where we are when we are and to have all the good luck that we have.
My step daughter is in the hospital giving birth to her first.
Grats! Pics when they arrive! :D
. maybe flock size should be gauged more by the noise level. If too much noise, too much chickens... 🤔 🤫
Or by the happiness of the chickens, yours look deliriously happy.
core for the coop! I found this antique radiator cover at the Habitat
Score!

Watered everything and gave a neighbor some zucchini and snap peas. Looked up canning instructions for potatoes (no good fresh storage options) and canned pickled okra so that will all be a go. I've grazed pretty much all of the ripe blueberries, strawberries, and raspberries as payment for the daily watering (seemed fair to me), can't keep ahead of the snap peas so those will be pickled and canned with the okra, maybe in the same jars for that matter.

Here is a shot of Tenmile Lake when I went fishing the other morning:

I just love this place.

Here's a few pics of our carnivorous and bog plants:

My shallots looked like they were ready to braid and hang:

Not the work of a pro but I think it'll do. They're hanging in the garage/barn to finish drying. I had them lying in the row to get dry enough so now I can plant something in the space and it'll make watering that bed a heck of a lot easier.

Stay hydrated and dirty all!

@NewBoots The mustard is actually a green. Imagine kale and a really pungent arugula had a baby.

Nice score, @Sooner Magnolia!
DOH! I knew that but was thinking ornamental plant for some reason. My personal favorite mustard green is Dragon Tongue. Especially sweet tasting if it gets a little frost. We had greens all winter from the ones I planted last October.

I feel your pain. Amazing how fast it sets in, and how much it screws you up and for a while too.
