What did you do in the garden today?

Beautiful pics @TropicalBabies !!

The chicks in sand are silly, but typical! They are sure contented.

a BBQ space sounds nice, if that is what you will use a lot! You could always pare down to 1 garden bed of the thing(s) you love to grow or to pick from your garden.

Here is my garden pic of the day:

Washed red peppers - various types. Some are rather hot, but was intending to have mild heat to no heat peppers. We plan to make pepper sauce with them. Spouse grew up eating homemade pepper sauce - red peppers blended with some salt and vinegar, blended very fine and then frozen in plastic bottles. So, never cooked and it retains a nice bright taste.

Peppers are awesome and dish towel rocks! Super cute combo. Happy eating! :drool

Chick pics - My they've grown!

Missing one - it is lost, don't know how and haven't found any traces either!

So, our mystery chick is a Salmon Faverolle!

You can start to see the unique comb taking shape in the Buttercups

We suspect a sexing error (a female instead of the male we ordered) - the chick on the left is more female in behavior, also a smaller stature. Hamburgs are trim birds, anyway.

Still super-fluffy!

This one lost his brother - a mystery.

Looking forward to seeing the grown up feather pattern.

If I were betting kind of gal I'd say your mystery chick is a boy.

That made me hungry just looking at it. My favorite garden Vegetable would be peppers. They look so much more appetizing when they are red. I even like to let my Jalapeños turn red. Green Jalapeños are hotter but they look so good red. I do the same with Seranos when I grow them. I let my Pepperchinis turn red to save some seeds but I may eat a few to see the flavor difference. They seem to be more of a brick red than a bright red though.

lol. I’m just happy a sexing error might result in an extra female! Time will telll.
Some are getting cockier everyday. It is different having all male chicks. They are different than a mixed bunch.
Oh that's right! You got all males. Forgot and didn't look so close at the rest of them

Good afternoon gardeners. We had wind and lightning last night but no rain or thunder. It stilled cooled us off a bit and I'm sure the chickens appreciated that. I watered this morning and then put out blocks of ice for the birds this afternoon. I saw the chicks standing in the cool dirt made from the meltwater so they know it's a good thing. Checked the eggs in the bator, got a pip and heard some peeps. My kid is taking her second test for Phoenix Fire today, she should do fine, lots of dispatch experience. I think that's it. Not so sure about this job, don't know if I can work with these folks but sucking it up for now. That's it for sure, have a good night.

yes, they sure do look yummy when red, but it seems to take forever for them to get all the way red. I think the small pepper on bottom left corner is a red pepperocini.

Its going to be interesting to see how they feather out. We were looking for comb variety, and breeds new to us. As a parent, we cant help ourselves ...try to learn them kids good.
I had a Salmon Faverolles rooster. Beautiful bird! I gave him to DIL but our heat was just too much for him. Loved his fluffy cheeks, he had a super friendly personality and was happy go lucky about everything.
