What did you do in the garden today?

This is the 10.2 pound meat chicken. Almost ready to eat! ( I hope no one is offended).

Aloha garden gang!
DH started feeling bad last night so I am on vigil. He had a temp of 101, cold and major sweats, slept 13 hours, woke to eat and is now back to sleeping. These things make me nervous now-a-days though I know our numbers are low and he has good practices... he had to pick this -whatever it is- up from somewhere. He is also a person who never gets sick... normally :hmm

I'm switching out my 90's to 45's on my home auto feeders and taking the 45's to make a little auto feeder for the pasture chickens, I plan to drop a bunch of cockerels down there this next week or so. I have sold and given all I can and still have a few to many. I may consider butchering in the next few years but will have to get set up for that. @karenerwin -that looks yummy, not offended :drool or maybe offended mine don't look that delicious is all.

Aloha @ILoveBabySilkies - we have similar climates. I also planted papaya seeds yesterday and also a few weeks ago. I tossed seeds on the fence line where they seem to to better than if I plant. I swear, if I put any effort into my papaya's they fail. They are the plant i have to ignore to get the best crop :idunno offends my fragile ego and irritates the heck out of me lol.
I miss my bragging rights.

Think one of my little, littles may have a pox on his chin. They were very rambunxious with each other yesterday with their 1 month old plus pecking order -They have outgrown the brooder and it is showing- and last eve I saw the bump. I am hoping it is just an injury but they never are...

I got 5 eggs out of 7 laying hens even with at least 4 molting. Of course the little wild hen accounted for one of those eggs. She is so cute, she thinks she is mine when she wants. I appreciate the eggs.

May replant tomato and some lettuce in pots today. We shall see how DH does.

Got my TG dinner menu purchased. Shrimp, chicken, pork Kabobs togo! with fixins of course.
Only a little baking. Awesome!!!

Garden folks- Happy Thursday!!! Stay well all and be smart and safe. We are almost there... don't trip at the finish line!!!

That's how it started with me, fever, night sweats, chills, shakes, on and off for three days and SUPER tired. Then came the dry cough, runny nose (3 boxes of kleenex a day), and body aches and no taste.

Crossing fingers for you.

Bloodwork was fine today.
But they took xrays of my crappy thumb. They're checking to see if I broke it and never healed it.
All the stuff is labeled for tomorrow and Saturdays sale.
On the way out of the doc's, I pulled of my mask, but the ear piece was behind my glasses end. They fell off on to the concrete. $500 down the tubes. ARGH!

Best to all.

What?!! You got the sh*t?!! Oh my goodness young lady, I'm so sorry, I did not read that far back- this thread moves. Ok. wow, I hope you had someone to help you out and I am glad you are ok. I hear it is pretty crappy to have. DH did get a flu shot about 1 month ago. Maybe I should worry again. Mahalo for your experience. :hugs:frow

Breeder, I have covered my garden with plastic and need to do it again. Not for the winter but in the hottest 2 months of the year for us, Aug/Sept. Till & cover with plastic. Kills weeds, seeds and bugs by super heating the top soil layer. I don't leave it on long enough to deteriorate. Does wonders for an insect infestation and we have a lot of bugs down here in SE Tx.
I do mulch my garden in the winter. Pick up the leaves the folks in town rake & bag for the garbage man. Hope to get enough to stay mulched through most of next summer.
