What did you do in the garden today?

Is the cat ok? Do people poison rats there? I’ve read that a blueish comb can be an indication of lack of circulation. There’s also something called Bluecomb but I haven’t read anything about it, just saw it when I was researching something else. Maybe just keep an eye on the rest of the gals and see how things go. If you still have the wild birds visiting then who knows? It could be a disease but it could have been a stroke or heart attack too.
He comb only had the start of some blueing and it faded a little when I started checking her out. Our kitty Batman, who is quite the mouser has left his kills around that area b4, so I did assume... but you never know what certain neighbors do an how far a rat will travel...:idunno
Yeah, I read the bluing was circulation, heart, etc. She did not have foaming or liquid. I made a mistake on Eva's age, she was 2.5. I first thought was heart attack, then egg bound, then infection, but everytime I lose a chicken I guess all over the place. I drive me crazy trying to solve the mystery lol. Main thing is the rest of the flock is fine, I feel lucky. I have been expecting my older gals to start thinning this last year, just figured it would be an older gal in the summer when it is hot and stressful.
Thanks for the thoughts and help :hugsnever any fun losing a girl.

I got the stuffing made ( not too sure I like it, but I used the recipe my daughter wanted) and made the potato salad.
One of the puppies managed to squeeze under and between the gate and fence separating the dog yard from the chicken yard. She hurt 2 chickens, 1 of which died in my arms.
So now we are trying to figure out the best way to reinforce the fence/gate so she can't get back under there.
I do feel a bit responsible though because both puppies were in the dog run yesterday when I butchered the 2 meat chickens and the 1 puppy got really excited and figured out how to get under the fence/gate then. In hindsight I should not have had the puppies out in the yard.

9am and running into town for med appt for my crappy thumb. Need to grab a new bathroom rug and a new front door handle.

already have a double batch of sugar cookies chilling in the fridge
a double batch of brownies cooling on the stove
a quadruple batch of icing on the counter - waiting for all of it

I still need to label all the knitting, I'll do that when I get home later, while things are baking.

Nothing in the garden, but thinking of getting the horse radish in the dirt in the potting shed.

Morning all.

Got a double batch of Taco soup going on the stove, a brisket in the crockpot & some pumpkin bead up next.

The last of the lettuce didn't make it through last nights cold, that's sad. Back to buying it!

I have a tree service company coming out today & one on Sat for quotes to remove all the dead branches on a giant old Oak above the chicken run. I hope it's not too insane, it needs to be done or something's going to take out the bird netting one of these days.

Have a good one all.
