What did you do in the garden today?

Good morning gardeners. Sounds like some of you are bursting with energy. I'm still in the thinking mode for the garden. Like you @littledog I want to make my garden more productive and conquer the blight issue. Some ideas to heat your greenhouse that may work for you would be 55 gallon drums full of water painted black to absorb radiant heat. If you have a large healthy compost pile, use a bucket or two of compost. Since it doesn't get too cold in your area, this might be enough. Using reflective material will not absorb the radiant heat, it would reflect it outward. Something that absorbs the heat during the day and release it after dark is helpful. Thanks for the link @jerryse, I'll be certain to check that out since I'm looking for blight resistant tomatoes.

Pretty out there today, but SO much so too quickly. We had ice before and after the snow. And the gravel roads are still all impassible.
Angus went out and played in the snow for about 15 minutes right after sunset. Raced around like a giant puppy, frolicking, rolling, swinging his long neck and bouncing. It was a riot. OC right as I grabbed my phone, he ran inside. Goober.
Went through the Territorial catalog last night. I'm not in planning mode quite yet. But I can feel the bug.

This may be helpful everyone here. This is a useful resource when searching for a company or to look and see how a company has been rated. This site has been operating for many years, and has a lot of info.

Google "Garden Watchdog" to get to same site.

For example, we had purchased several roses from one source, and they were FANTASTIC! After we had already purchased etc, we discovered this online resource and were not surprised to see that that company was rated very highly (listed in the "Watchdog 30"). Unfortunately, the owner of that company died, so it was passed on the younger generation(?) or sold (?) and no longer rates very well, even thought the transition happened around 6-10 years ago. So when we were ready to purchase more roses, we looked and discovered the decline of the company.

Conversely, we have purchased from Bluestone Perennials several times over many years, and have always had good luck with everything we've received. No surprise, they have been in the Watchdog 30 for many years.

We've been discussing Territorial seeds on this thread lately. No reviews on this site for over 2 years! So, no recent data.

Looking for a particular plant? They also have "Plant Scout"

HTH!

It is somewhat brisk here today, but I wanted a bit of outdoor exposure in the open air, so I mulched some shrub areas of the landscape. Guess I would prefer to spend my gardening budget on seeds and plants - so my mulch comes as woodland duff from the 25 acres of mixed evergreen/deciduous forests here on the property. It is a perfect appearance for me and most likely transfers some of the forest floor biome to the soil around the shrubbery. It is good exercise while I'm collecting it and it involves no delivery truck nor plastic bags that would have been involved had I purchased any type of mulch from outside sources. A properly thick layer now will thwart future weeds, help retain soil moisture, adds organic matter and as I said, gives a nice looking texture that could even prevent some erosion on sloping areas. I always enjoy a day when it can be productive both indoors and out.

Tried to stay warm while my dog did her business. Just kidding. I saw the thread title and had to chuckle.

We just moved to our newly built house a week ago, and all I'll be able to manage on our little acre in the pines is a place for my heirloom irises and some herbs for the someday-chickens. Might plant some native shrubs here, but we really have to be stingy with our water usage, as it's a community well and expensive.

Did you liquidize the raw liver in a blender with the water? Or maybe you messed up the conversions from ounces to cups? Mine love the "dust" leftover in the bag when the treats are gone. I pour it on top of their food.
I dunno. I liquidized the livers, used coconut flour and weighed that. Is yours kind of damp and crumbly when you put it in the pan? What kind of flour do you use?

OMG you are one tough cookie. I would be in ICU with a hot chocolate drip.
I had to take off my bandaid on Monday because I couldn’t type with it on. Today it’s tender if I bump it too hard but otherwise fine. Where do I sign up for the hot chocolate drip?
