What did you do in the garden today?

Good morning gardeners. No outdoor work today. We got an inch or two of wet snow overnight and then rain so now we have two inches of slippery slush on the ground. I did a little online shopping this morning. My ceiling light fixture is uncomfortable to my eyes so I ordered a floor lamp that blends in with the garden theme. I need to start taking down the Christmas trees and other decorations today. I will likely wait until later in the week to order the seeds in my shopping cart at Pine Garden Seed. I think I need to learn more about potato varieties before commiting to one, so I won't be ordering them right now. I would love to put up a greenhouse however my patio needs some serious work first. After having the window well rebuilt I realized how poorly designed the patio is. So I'm thinking since the lower retaining wall needs work, why not push the wall back a little to expand the grilling and seating area. Although, not a project for mid winter. I got another wind chime for Christmas and finally got it hung up yesterday. I'm thinking I need to replace the bar I'm using to hang them from.

OMG I feel the chill from here

Your guess is correct, with a hitch loop 3-4 ft from the staple so that you can pull and cinch, the plastic.. at each joint and center makes it roughly 25in spacing the plastic is going NO where..
Are you using the pull tape to strap down the plastic? I'm not understanding the purpose of the pull tape....

hello everyone, finally made it back ,had a hard time last few mths but everything ok now .i managed to get most of garden done before winter ,still got to get area cleared for chickens .i keep trying to talk myself out of having them again but it doesn,t work !just been online and ordered seed potatoes +onion sets and some potting compost to start all the seeds i have stored . got to build some veg boxes when we get some nice days the wood is waiting ,can,t wait for the snow to be gone the compost heap is sorely in need of turning but too much snow on top .tomorrow i,ll get in the shed and sort out all the seed trays and make sure they,re clean , hope i haven,t gone on too long .

Good morning gardeners. Welcome to the newcomers. Not much happening here for now. Still working on removing holiday stuff and putting into storage. I changed the battery in one of my solar motion sensor lights yesterday. I'm hoping that brings it back to life so I don't have to buy a new one. I'm also hoping the ground thaws enough to pull the lawn decorations out of the ground before our next round of snow tonight. This isn't supposed to be a big to do maybe 3 to 4 inches. I'm still holding off on ordering my seeds, but likely will do that later this week. I'm leaning toward a dwarf variety of corn since I am vertically challenged and using a ladder to pick corn sounds a little risky. LOL! I'm still planning on planting lima beans with the corn. I decided not to plant peas this year. I use them in stir fries mostly and I've cut back on that so I still have a few pounds of peas in the freezer.

I'm SO GLAD that I don't live in snow country any more...

We had a little bit of light frost which melted by 9 am

so where is there? No need to be super specific, but posting in a garden forum, and it was inevitable to be asked where you are at! I'm in Western Ohio, and I put this in my profile, so it shows up by my user name.

Ugh @WthrLady - your weather is killing ME! :lau

@Wee Farmer Sarah that wind chime is adorable!

We've got some snow flurries going on, not going to amount to much I don't think & that's good because my back can't handle any more snow removal, though I do love the snow. ❄

Not much doing here, just planning & packing for our trip. It's a lot to do to be on the road for a month & to also prepare for others to stay at your house for that long during snow season. Having 2 separate coops doesn't make it any easier either. Thankfully they don't have to care for the garden on top of it all. :gig

I need to start looking into a couple hoops for spring to get some things started earlier this year. Not much, just some lettuce maybe. Or the squash I swear I'm not planting this year. :gig:idunno I wish I had the room for a high tunnel or hoop house or something, we just don't have it here. Maybe when I retire & we move.
