What did you do in the garden today?

Morning all, we had a snow eating wind last night until about midnight, when we finally dipped below freezing again. I'll take it. The slow melt this time of year is perfect. The rivers are already suffering from ice jamming. We don't need to add to that misery.

Will put the horse radish in soil tomorrow as DH's car is blocking the seeding shed.

Not ONE of my soaked pecans split for planting. UGH. But the chestnuts are are germinating deep in warm dark earth after their chill cycle. """"Crossing fingers"""""

Tractor guys coming up to look at the beast tomorrow or Tuesday. She's totally dead. Hard started on one day, but ran fine, and then poof, Friday, totally dead. Fuses look fine, no chewed wires, battery is fine. I think the starter has gone AGAIN. Ah the joys of the country.

Not much else I can manage on my own...so house call for her it is.

Dog need to go to the groomer to get her nails done. No idea how previous owners tortured her, so I won't add to that. Rather her mad at the vet tech than me.

Garden is still under a foot of snow. Weed seeds no doubt plotting their revenge. Must add TON of mulch to the walkways this Spring. MUST.

Mine isn't a biter. She has the magic ability to make her whole leg disappear. I swear she sucks it clear up into her body.

Chili is on the stove and wow is it hot! It'll be ready to eat by lunch time and I can't wait! Does anyone else have their spicy chili taste less spicy after it's been stored for a day or two? I think I'll store this in a big container overnight then put it back in a pot so I can hit it again with the spices.

Pulled all the dead leaves off the strawberry plants today. The parsley I planted last week has sprouted. It’s been bright and sunny today and we have reached a high of 68. I’m enjoying it while it lasts they’re saying we could drop into the teens next week.

Artichoke Lover, just seeing your pictures here give me hope! I probably have two full months before I start planting starts for this year.

Now, if we get a nice warm March... maybe I could start early...

Good afternoon gardeners. I weeded the shade garden and dumped a five gallon plus bucket of weeds into the compost bin. It looks much better but still needs a bit more work. Also spread out one of the soaker hoses in there but that still needs final placement and there’s another hose to put down. The dill is really bushy and needs a good trim as well. Hubs measured the garden, it’s now 16x16.5. Oopsie. He drew up plans for that and we’ll get that done next weekend. I’m so excited about getting it done! I have to get the bricks leveled at the wall end on both sides after work this week. I gave my DIL my mini greenhouse. She has space for it and I don’t. I didn’t get up until after 0700 we had to do some grocery shopping, then the kids wanted a few rides in the golf cart. I steamed some veggies for lunches this week. If I don’t prep in advance I either don’t eat, or don’t eat right. Time to get dinner going, we’re having sweet potatoes, pork chops and green beans.

I just got my Gurney's catalog in the mail today, and OMG you guys, this week it's $25.00 off orders over $50! I'm so glad I haven't ordered seeds yet - need to get on that ASAP!
