What did you do in the garden today?

I usually keep seeds in the freezer to extend their viable life. I haven't had any issues yet, but there's always exceptions. To answer two previous questions: I haven't tried growing strawberries from seeds before, but I want to try because it would be a little easier to test out growing them in the aeroponic system started from seed. If I used bare root plants, I'd have to somewhat meticulously remove the dirt, and it's possible they wouldn't survive a change from dirt growing to no dirt. But in a pinch I'll try it. Having a hard time sourcing everbearing seeds online and no one local supplies that sort of thing.

I bought a variety pack of alpine strawberry seeds. I've had them in the freezer for about 8 months. Hoping they are still viable. I am going to plant them this spring. Fingers crossed.... It will be my first time planting strawberries from seed....

I did try those (yellow variety). they sprouted well but heat killed them here.

ooooo....well, then I'm in for trouble because it gets really HOT here in the summer. I think the variety pack I bought has 2 types of yellow and 2 types of red. But all are alpine so smaller than regular strawberries.

My existing strawberry bed has 2 or 3 different types of everbearing/Junebearing. I also have some pineberries although they have never produced a single berry. I haven't decided whether to replace them or keep holding out that I might actually get a pineberry someday.

Marshall we bought this last fall I got a dozen these are well rooted packed some mulch about them in the late fall

snowing here. of course it will not stay. but the wind is horrible.

I cooked rice, wheat and corn with some herbs, cayenne pepper and flax seeds for my chickens. a trio of cockoo legbar hybrids and my 6 ducks luckily went to my friends yesterday. there are plenty of other ducks and more room and they are going to be happier overethere. less work for me and more room for the garden
