What did you do in the garden today?

I'm having a bad day. A bad week, really. I started to post about it in the family forum, simply because I have no one to really talk to.....but ended up deleting it. I'm a private person and it feels sacriligious to post my personal business online. Needless to say, it's got me in the dumps with no likelihood of getting out of it anytime soon. :(

:hugs I get it. I hope you find the sunshine soon.

:hugs :hugs I know how you feel. March was a really bad month for us here. Things are starting to look up but it’s been hard to shake off.

I've heard you can also mostly bury an almost empty beer can with the top cut off (just use can openers and be careful about the edge). Throw a bunch of salt in the bottom and it'll kill the slugs when they crawl in for the beer. Works on snails too. Change out as needed, and yes, it'll be a bit gross inside.
I am familiar with this method, however since I have a lot of chipmunks and squirrels on my property I was concerned the little darlings might partake of the open bar and I don’t even want to imagine drunken rodents staggering around the yard. :lau

ICK - Day 7 of chicks/poults inside. My head hurts - the dust, I guess. 2 more days and they get evicted to the barn. Turkeys make more noise, for sure.

On the 6 week old chicks - we got straight run SS, and looks like 2 are girls and one is a male. This is good bc we will keep the male SS.

There is an unwanted male EE in that 6 week old batch, so we will likely get rid of him soon. No need to keep him around as we would prefer to keep the SS male. It also looks like a BR is a male, but I'm going to wait to see in another 2-3 weeks to be sure.

The current 8 month male in the flock - the only one right now (chicks don't count yet), might have made a very slight attempt at crowing today...hard to tell, he was hiding from me. Maybe he'll start to try to protect the flock, tidbit, mate...he is a late bloomer it seems.

Here is the late bloomer. 8 months old, no eggs, looks male, was bought as a male (so sexed as a male), but no mating, or any male behavior yet. He was only 7 months old in this pic.

I've seen squirrels high on shrooms out of the yard before. It's pretty hilarious!
