What did you do in the garden today?

Planted some bean seeds in the garden & was flipping the plexiglass in place, it hit my big toenail & ripped it 97% off. So, a trip to the ER where the 3 docs on said they wouldn't touch it. They called 4 other places who also said they wouldn't touch it. One Doc felt bad for me at this point so she caved & numbed it up & cut off what she could. Gave me antibiotics & a referral to a podiatrist to get the rest of it removed. It never hurt until now, holy cow is it throbbing! I'm guessing not much happening in the garden for the next couple of days, I can't get a shoe on (nor would I want to).
OOOUUUUCCCCHHHHHH!!!

Out here we can goto the zoo and get free compost from their manure. They are federally licensed so it has to pass all kinds of tests bla bla before they can dump it, so it's good #$t man!! Problem is a lot ofpeople do that so sometimes you show up and theres not much left, but most times you can get some.
I find it works better than most the stuff you can buy, mix a bit of top soil, sand in it to keep it open and the plants go crazy in it ad it's free.

here, they sell it- it is called Zoo Doo

I think my gardening is becoming a full time job! I may have bitten off more than I can chew...ha ha.
Yeah, gardening is similar to chicken math. Start with one little tomato on the patio and soon it looks like the amazon forest in your yard. I wonder if only addiction prone people are attracted- the number of chicken and garden addicts I know personally is astounding.
am going to a poultry festival Saturday- have to bring a non chicken enthusiast with me for intervention. No one I know of does garden or plant interventions.

It's a shame they sell it and you can't get it for free. From what I am told by a few people who ARE professionals, it's pretty good stuff, a lot better than many things you would get in the stores pre bagged. Maybe next time you are in Jacksonville, I can offer you a free turd or two? :p

Or, in keeping with the gardening theme.

Roses Are Red
Violets Are Blue
I'd Be Happy to Share
My Poo With You.

That is so true. Every year I add a couple more beds & say I'm done now. Then comes the next year. 🤣 If I had a large coop I'd have a lot more chickens too. Thankfully my coops are small & full!

You had my heart racing until I realized it was Jacksonville, Florida- not Texas. But thanks for the offer, I appreciate it.

I just remembered, I got two boxes of potato's to plant. WHen I ordered them, I was not thinking right about how many '5 lbs of this 2 lb of that 3 of this, really was !! Crap, I have no idea where I am going to put all of these. I might end up just eating some of them, grrr.

Aaron

Yeah, they go far! A few pounds of seed potatoes can produce many plants!

My "Mini-tubers" arrive tomorrow...supposed to just plant them, no need to cut. Only 10 of these per variety that I ordered...but I NEEDED variety...so I have 20 mini-tubers (2 varieties) and then some lbs of a third variety of traditional seed potatoes. Do I really NEED 30+ plants? Uh, no...but that's what I'll plant bc how can I NOT plant them all?
