What did you do in the garden today?

I also have a dehydrator but I've never used it before. I need to figure out what works well for that and what doesn't.

Strawberries were bland

I'm not too experienced with my dehydrator. However, I did some strawberries (from the store) and they were fantastic! But, as we all know, sometimes you get good strawberries, sometimes they are bland . . . I guess we got a good and flavorful batch! most fruits do pretty well. Some people get into making fruit leathers. I'm interested in making some jerky!

hawk attack!
Yikes! Glad you are ok!

I’ve only dried the surplus from my herb garden but it makes the house smell amazing. I have a large freezer to store excess fruit and vegetables. I’m not a fan of jerky but @Sueby is. She makes a lot of it. I got the yard trimmed in the front yard but ran out of time to finish off the slope. It’s starting to drizzle here now but I’m hoping it stays light so my ladies can get in their “free range” time. Just had a Daddy sparrow dash by with a chicken feather in his mouth for his family’s nest. Too cute. I got a picture and will post it in the morning.

You are welcome to pass along a good recipe...hint...hint
DH never writes this stuff down. He usually uses soy sauce, Worcestershire, A-1, and Liquid Smoke. Slice the meat (he uses beef) thinly, soak in the marinade overnight, then ask wifey (me) to do the dehydrating part.

I love teriyaki sauce added to the marinade, but that's not his favorite. He goes for salty and spicy, I like sweeter and savory. Really, it's just sauces that he likes for when he cooks steak.

Deer netting is working well so far. But of course, now the big bed, where I borrowed the net from, lost some corn. Not sure how. They were about 3” tall and looked like they were just pulled straight up and left there.
Finally found my pole beans and an unopened packet of cuke seeds. I coulda sworn i planted cukes already but I know I only had one packet 🤷🏻‍♀️ Guess I gotta find some room now.

Today, picked a handful of blackberries and green beans, and put up shade cloth over the lettuce.

Then went down the hill to check for dragon fruit buds but suddenly felt a thud.. hawk attack! Dripped blood all the way back to the house but it's stopped now. I have 5 little cuts on my head and a splitting headache. Bad start to a long weekend :( I left a message with the county wildlife department, hopefully they can remove her. I do not want to start wearing a helmet just to tend my orchard.:mad::mad:
Oh my gosh, I’m so sorry! 😞 I hope you’re still doing alright!
