I think the issue was not wiping off enough dirt. OOO There's an idea!Been thinking of putting in a fall crop of black eyed peas- probably where the squash and zucchini were. May be able to harvest them and still have time to compost the leaves and some chicken poop in the beds by spring.
I rinse my potatoes with the hose after harvesting. Then I lay them out in the shade to dry. You could probably use a diluted vinegar solution to help kill mold spores when rinsing the potatoes.Apparently I can still eat them.I think the issue was not wiping off enough dirt.

I managed to catch her after a bit of chase and took her inside the coop. Red immediately accepted her back and both chicks are outside with Red this morning.
