What did you do in the garden today?

I have never grown lemongrass, but have wanted to!

My poor BR is in such a hard molt she's sleeping in the nest box tonight for the first time ever. I wish I could help her feel better, she's so miserable & the other brats won't give her any peace. ☹️ I gave them all a little nutridrench today. & mealworms.

I’ve decided to add a dwarf olive as the second tree like shrub in that area, I read that they grow well under similar conditions that Arabian lilac needs, but it’s not a speedy grower.
We have a small olive "shrub" in a half whiskey barrel in front of our place. It's probably the hottest and driest spot on the property. But it never gets any higher than 90 and that only a couple days a year.
Mac nut husks are starting to crack.
I have to ask, what is a mac nut?
Does anyone grow lemongrass? How well does it transplant?
I planted a small potted one into a raised bed last spring and it's still alive but that's the end of my expertise. But it seems healthy and happy even now with the rain and cold.

Been a while but I recall it being quite easy.

Thanks you two. It’s a pretty good sized clump. I’ll dig it up and divide it and see how it goes.

omg, do you roast them and everything? omg again, that would be so cool! I only get a few of those a year, they are crazy expensive at the store.
Yep. The hard part is cracking them! I have been using a hand vise, have to adjust for every nut, then pry open with a knife. I only got about a pound last year, so the vise works for now, but they do make lever-style crackers that aren't so hard on your hands.

I did nothing today, blegh. Coming down with something. Yay me. /sarc

This is really not my month so far. If I'm feeling better tomorrow I'll try to get some more things planted up. Regardless, I'll need to water. But tomorrow I'm also making my potato salad! It must be made a day ahead for Thanksgiving. Everything else is made the day of, but the potato salad needs to marinate in its own goodness overnight and become this incredible, mouth watering dish that everybody always asks me to make, no matter what holiday. I've even had it be a special request on certain people's birthdays, lol.

Mmmm, potato salad. :drool Haven't met one I didn't like! Unless it has sugar, that's generally a dealbreaker. I hope you feel better @Elyrian1.

It must be hard to be able to garden year round. I enjoy hibernating Dec-Mar. I know I complain that we have such a short growing season, but I don't know if I'd want to do it all the time. Seems like a lot of work. :gig
