What did you do in the garden today?

Going to make savory oatmeal for lunch today, the shallots and bacon are all chopped up and ready.
Sounds great! Recipe?
I scattered clover seeds in the yard and run, does that count as gardening?
Absolutely! This time of year, I count the following as "gardening:"

Taking stuff to the compost
Walking around the garden
Looking out the window at the garden
Thinking about what to grow in the garden
Posting/chatting in this thread about gardening (or other stuff)
Drooling over garden catalogs

Using that for compost tea, am I correct to assume it's going to be WAY on the acid side and go to carefully with it?
I think it's usually diluted, not used "straight." I've never done compost tea, so google for more info. Or someone here might chime in.

Sally, yes you usually dilute it but I hear that tea that is 'thick' or first draw off a lot of grass / leaves, because of the tannins in it, can be very acidic, and would be more suited for plants that like acid, and was hoping someone would chime in with any experiences they may have with that.

Edit: Yes I could and have googled it, but as with anything else, you get 50 different people with 50 different answers all over the spectrum on it! So was curious to what our group may have to say since many here in this thread seem to have a good idea on this stuff.

Oh yes I have a bunch of them, and I typically put my coffee grounds onto them as well. They are full of worms,. WHICH.... causes another problem... the girls know this too, so I have to keep them covered with burlap sacks on the dirt to keep them out of it or they'll have them dug a foot deep! In fact I just got done topping them off with about 2 inches of good compost mixed with an aged coffee ground mix, some chicken poop / pine shaving and about 4 inches of leaves/grass for the winter over. (if you can call it that here in florida)

I also have blackberries but have yet to be able to taste one single berry off them. Sometimes the birds are first....

Good morning all. Yesterday was exhausting. I repaired the spots on the coop run where the wind did a little damage. I added more covering to Randy’s bachelor pad, moved the lavender onto the front porch and covered up the asparagus bed with straw. That was all before 3 pm. We got around an inch of snow before it started sleeting and raining. I had a little Christmas party planned for last night, but postponed it until tonight. We’re going to see a Christmas light show then come back to my house for a small plates buffet. Tomorrow we head for over night lows in the teens and daytime highs in the low 30’s. Brrr! I’m having seriously computer problems. I lost a few files yesterday. I’m not sure if I still have my gardening file. :he
It sounds like you have a nice evening planned, enjoy! I hope you still have your file, that’s so frustrating!

Tomorrow is solstice and I don't know if I'll even bother with the tree. Maybe just the candle in the window and presents shoved in the corner. I'm not feeling it.
We start gaining back our daylight as of Thursday, it will be welcome.
I SHOULD be done with the loom restoration today. We'll see.
The men are off to work today, but home the rest of the week. So maybe I'll get the gifts wrapped before the loom.
I FINALLY found a daily planner that starts on Sunday, so I'll be able to better plan habits and the garden/greenhouse/chores/real world.
We only have a tree because hubs put it up and decorated. I’m not in the mood this year at all! I have a slew of candles to burn too, but it will be an early night, no staying up to greet the sun tomorrow morning.

We'll want to see it too when it's done, so don't forget pictures!

Raining and cold again today but I think we'll at least get the tree up. The rain held off till the morning walk was done so I'm grateful for that. We saw some deer up pretty close on the walk and Penny would have definitely gone for them. She has no real prey drive with the chickens but I'd never trust her with the rabbits and now with deer.

I had to install 26 grommets yesterday for the loom. I am paying for it today. My arthritis did NOT appreciate that hammering ONE BIT. I might need another day, or two.

I put the tree up, but I'm not going to decorate it. I take it down Christmas day anyway.

Gifts are wrapped and away.
