What did you do in the garden today?

I can't get anyone to do anything besides see me once and shove me out the door! What happened to medical curiosity? The need to help those suffering? I am so frustrated. It's been TWO years.
Know you aren't alone! So many of us have very similar situations!
Our primary care provider said our family has some "bad juju" and dismisses it at that. No interest in trying to find why out entire family for 4 and now 5 generations had the same health problems.

Prepping... it may not be a global or even national emergency, but a personal one.
At first, I was thinking "I don't think, I really have to do this" but I did it anyway. I'm glad I am who I am, because although there are things at the store, (so far) we haven't been able to go and get supplies and groceries because we don't have money to spend.
So, prepping may not be a national emergency yet, but it could be a personal one. :)

prepping has always been my way of life. makes me feel comfortable and all the extra money goes for me and not to make somebody rich.

Same here. I'd like one of those, and I'd REALLY like solar power. We might not get enough sun to do it all the time though.

Amen! When Covid happened, I stocked up on some dry goods that keep really long term, like rice, beans, pasta, etc. I still have a lot of the beans (lol), but DH and I discussed this when everyone was freaking out. We might get really tired of beans, but a full belly is a wonderful thing in times of hunger.

That's why I garden, too. There are a lot of yummy meals you can make out of canned tomatoes, potatoes, onions, garlic, and eggs. Add one or two other ingredients, and the options go way up.

and we should collect seeds as well. that is my next step. I will order corn, amaranth and millet just in case chicken feed will not be available. prices for chicken feed goes up weekly. the major import of corn and wheat comes from russia here.

I had a gut intuition about 5 years ago that things were going to go off the rails. I don't think of myself as a prepper in the Discovery Channel sense of the word but I did start preparing for just about anything over the past 5 years. We have a good amount of ammo but I also recognize that unless you own a sporting goods distribution or something similar, any amount of ammo probably isn't enough. Better to have a plan for how you can make your own ammo instead. Same goes for food and water supply. This is actually what made me jump in and learn how to garden. Before 5 years ago, I never grew a thing in my life. But most importantly, I did a lot of advance research to figure out where my family would go if the SHTF, how we would get there WITHOUT GPS or cell phones, and how we could support ourselves in that environment for at least 6-8 months.

But we do not have a bunker or any of the other elaborate equipment like you see from preppers on TV.

I am still thinking how to house my chickens in my new place. maybe I should build them a sort of bunker?

Same here @igorsMistress, we have great friendships with the neighbors, we'd hunker down here depending on the situation (we do have the toterhome & offroad vehicles if we had to bug out). Although if it's this crap with Russia, being on the east coast where we are, I think we'd be glass pretty quick. Halfway between NYC & Boston & DC so close, the sub base in Groton & the power plants I think we'd be a front runner to be nuked!

We have a small bit of solar & 3 generators (propane, diesel & gas) with some fuel supplies. Water would be an issue, we're on a shared well & are not allowed to put in our own. But our water table is super high & we have heavy equipment to dig & there is a spring somewhere out back in our wetlands I believe.

Guns & ammo - we have lots. DH reloads most of his own ammo & we have some supplies.

This is such an interesting conversation. I love to hear how everyone has thought about all of this stuff & how prepared everyone is. I guess it's a thing with gardeners & chicken people - we are already a couple steps closer to being 'prepers' because of those things.

I feel yall...I never had any relief from enbrel but my mom does.
I've tried iv therapy as well as numerous other weekly injections and no relief. Finally took me off methotrexate since it wasn't working.
I'm on olumiant now and it has done the best over the last 12 years! Just a pill a day.
Thank you for sharing! Do you have a for sure diagnosis? I am going to give the enbrel a couple months & see & I'm certainly going to google olumiant - I've never heard of it! ❤️

eta: I googled, looks like RA?

I have a binder prepared with maps and lots of other survival information. I knew our kids would never pay close enough attention if we tried to teach them so I wanted them to have a resource if something should happen to us. We also have 2 bug out bags with everything we should need to be sustainable including several books on edible plants, medicinal plants, and a survival book that covers different environments (mountains, desert, island, etc...). Again, I didn't want to assume we were know everything critical so I tried to ensure we'd have a carryable resource for knowledge at critical times. We also live within an hour of a nuclear plant so we are prepared for that as well....

Wanted to add that if things go really far off the rails, prepare for tribalism, unless of course there is an invading army... But tribalism means individuals won't be able to survive alone. You will have to make alliances and protect each other from other roving bands of people who want or need resources. There's always power in numbers.
