What did you do in the garden today?

When I planted the seeds in these pots, I only filled them 1/2 full, so when they grew taller, I could fill in the rest of the pot.
I hope it makes them stronger.
Also, all of my seeding info says to start fertilizing 2 weeks after putting the seed in the dirt so that's what I did. I use a seedling fertilizer (Gurneys seedling boost fertilizer); I'm also using distilled water to see if that helps.

I know some plants, like tomatoes, do really well if you plant them deeper - they grow roots up the stems. There's a word for that but I can't remember it!

Ha! Excellent choice then! I always plant my tomatoes up to the first set of leaves, it makes them much stronger.

This is what happened in banty land last 24 hours. I have them two eggs. The white silkie wanted to be broody so gave her two eggs. The other white silkie joined her.

Replanted the Seed Saver tomato seed for the THIRD time. If these don't germinate, I'm calling to complain. All my other companies have at least made an effort.

I love dandelions too but no dandelions here.

I assume it's because I cook the crap out of my bones - 2 days in 2 batches. I don't really care if it's cloudy or not, I'm just curious.

It's also crazy how 1 inch headspace becomes almost 2! How does that happen? The water in the canner is not dirty so it didn't siphon. It's a head scratcher for me, lol.

is it possible to ship jars with broth to europe, lol. you don't need clear broth, this I call "pure health". the cow probably was on pasture.

I've been trying....unsuccessfully....to get dandelions to grow in my pasture. Who would have thought I'd put so much time, energy, and money into trying to get a WEED to grow???? This morning I received my 4th packet of dandelion seeds in the mail.... Here's to trying YET AGAIN!

Incidentally I also ordered some fava beans. FIVE POUNDS of fava beans....lol. I knew they were good protein source for livestock. Did NOT realize until this morning that they are BAD for chickens. well poo..... I guess I plant a handful of them somewhere the chickens don't go just so I can see what happens with them. I will hold onto the rest until the fall and maybe plant them in the garden after the season is over. I can harvest the beans for the horses and goats.

chickens will never eat dried fava beans. leaves are ok for foraging.

Excellent reminder...totally need to do that now that mine have put out more leaves!
