What did you do in the garden today?

Well, on the bright side, we had less pollen today. But...we had less because we had 50+ mile an hour winds the last two days.

So sorry for your loss @WthrLady. Still taking it easy with the arm. I did manage to get some cleaning done inside. Vacuuming was a bit of a struggle but the LR is done. I up potted my San Marzano seedlings today. I do want to get more seedlings into larger pots tomorrow. Then I can clean up the sunroom. I have a few more asparagus spears nudging through the soil too. I checked the Aphis website and DD checked the local FB site and absolutely no confirmations of the avian virus anywhere near me. That said, I let my ladies out for 30 minutes this afternoon. They didn’t venture very far away from the door to the chicken run but were able to dig through leaves for bugs and nibble on the grass. And yes it rained again overnight. I’m hoping to get a little Spring cleaning done outside tomorrow. Fingers crossed 🤞.

Some people are freaking out over feed supply, so I asked at the smaller/local owned farm store- spoke with the owner and they said no issues with feed. Price might be higher, and biggest issue they know of is truckers to transport the goods. They indicated that they usually know well in advance if there will be a problem, but said not an issue to worry about that they are aware of. Speculated it might be a bigger issue in larger population centers.
Exactly what my guys said. It will be available but it may be expensive! Good to hear others agree.

@WthrLady, I hope your sister is ok. Stress on top of stress stinks. Hugs to you all.

Tough day at work, spinal injections tomorrow. Watered the bean bed, no signs of life yet, shouldn't be long tho! Thats all I got. 😂

I see a lot of my friends on here planting stuff outside.
I usually wait until around Mother's Day when my husband and boys help me plant, as my gift. ;) Even then I still cover everything for a few weeks.
I know some people are south of me, and it's time to plant but zone 5er's planting? You all are making me nervous... like I'm missing out.
Next week's forecast here shows a few days at or below freezing for low temperatures, so I'm going to hold tight for now.
Most of my friends & neighbors plant on Memorial Day. I start early, every so often I lose a crop & have to start over, but I keep my fingers crossed that I can cover everything in time and get early greens and peas!
Pulled a muscle or something in the opposite shoulder, no doubt from the impact, and spent all night in pain. Still in pain.
So sorry to hear! Very glad you protected the little one. That could have been really bad! Getting old is not easy. Lol
Dad given Last Rites and has passed peacefully. We're ok.
So sorry. Hopefully your family can find some peace soon. Especially your sister.
2 days of storms comin.
Stay safe. Hope you get everything covered and protected and can rest a bit!

I juggled my schedule a bit today. Got onion and shallot sets in, and planted a packet of peas. Wanted to do more, but TSC notice that my hardware cloth is finally in! So I ran to grab that and by the time I got back it is time to start dinner.

Was going to repot the tomatoes today, but with rain in the forecast tomorrow & Thursday I figured I’d have 48 hours of “inside time” work to get done.

Although I love my class this year, I must say it is nice to have spring break and catch up on the outside work I’ve been squeezing in on the weekend! I keep telling DH we can live off his salary…and I would homestead most of our food…but here I am. 10 years and a beautiful pension and I can work outside every day! 😂

Trimmed the yella seed leaves off the squash.. put a pinch of rabbit poop on everything before the rain/tornadoes.. flip a coin.. staked down the little hoophouse with the chicks in it.. doctored some farr ants.. and back on the porch now.. wind is shifting now

Thank ya

Got a lot done today, and feel it. I tilled the flat area where the squash and potatoes will go. It's the first time it's been tilled in 3 years, I think. I cover the area very thickly with raked up leaves to keep the weeds at bay. It's still very sandy, but it has gotten a fair bit of organic matter added. Yay.

One of the wood piles DH made fell over, so I restacked it. Not that big a deal, just Another Thing To Do.

I've been scouting out standing dead stuff for DH to fell and buck. He hasn't taught me how to use the chainsaw (GRRR!), and I'm not going to tackle that without a tutor. I have a lot of respect for tools that I don't know how to use.
