What did you do in the garden today?

We have another 3-4 more days of "it." :barnie

I put away the heated waterer, but haven't had the water freeze, thank goodness.

I hear ya! I think we have till Tues to deal with it. This one threw the weather guys off, it was not supposed to get so cold last night. I didn't cover anything & we had ice on the cars. Fig & lettuce should be ok with that, but I would have covered if I had known. Oh well, it's generally do or die in this house anyway, lol.

Yeah. Happy Easter.

Good morning all and Happy Easter. It was 35F when I crawled out of bed this morning. Breezy but not bitter. No work planned for the garden today. I have French bread dough working on it's first rise then need to do the house cleaning I postponed. We're looking at temps around 31F tomorrow morning and again near freezing on Thursday morning. Wah! My early daffodils are getting ready to bloom. I might snip them and bring the flowers inside to enjoy. My lilacs and azalea are close to blooming. Hopefully they'll wait another day or two. The buds on my peach tree are still pretty tight so I'm thinking it will be fine. I was wondering if I should throw some straw on the asparagus that's coming up? I got the planters in front of the chicken yard planted and watered. The tiny pansies were really root bound and dry but they perked up with our overnight rain showers. I have wildflower seeds I can plant with them now so hopefully this afternoon I can get them into the pots. The chickens are enjoying their expanded chicken yard. I've already noticed a color change in the egg yolks from them grazing on grass. Of course, I need to stay close to them since the hawks are back on the prowl. I did get one row each of carrots and kale planted yesterday. This week I will be planting radishes, chard, arugula, lettuce and spring onions. Can't hardly wait. Have a great day everyone.

It's about 50 degrees and rainy here. Cold and yucky. We tried to go out to eat after church but everything is packed (no surprise) so instead we came home and DH is cooking brunch while I warm up huddled under a quilt in the recliner.

I had my plant starts outside on Friday. It was a little cool in the morning but not below 55. The high was in the low-to-mid 70s on Friday, yet for some reason my tomato starts all fell over. They don't really look damaged but they don't want to stand up anymore? Not sure what is going on with that? I will try to maybe put some small stakes in the pot to hold them up?
