What did you do in the garden today?

Good morning all. Chilly and windy today. It rained over night and the temps stayed above freezing but going down close to freezing overnight tonight. I picked more asparagus this morning and it looks like every onion start I planted is coming up strong. The kale is definitely coming up so that's great. Really good news is my seed potatoes will be here on Friday. Yay! I want to turn the soil a bit before planting next week. All of my tomato starts have been re-potted, next up are the Ancho peppers and Bell peppers. I need to plant some radishes soon to get them going. I also want to get the bunching onions planted as well. The temps are expected to be warming up next week so lots of yard clean up and planting ahead.

First 20 days in the ground.. dug extra deep/wide holes filled with compost and then mixed with native soil, cleaned out hole, removed all branches, set plants appropriately add a half handful of organic fertilizer, backfill with mixed soil and buried them up to the tops.. a couple pinches of organic fertilizer around the plant at surface, water all very thoroughly.. they are happy..

I’ve never grown artichokes before. Are they (🤣 I can’t figure out how to spell it!) a non annual ? 🤣
I have 2 planted in the ground that probably won't do much due to poor soil, but this spring I planted 3 in a half wine barrel and put a couple more in corners of the raised beds. Nearly everyone here grows them so I'm looking forward to what happens with ours.

We're watching the bird feeder live cam at the Cornell Lab in Ithaca New York and the trees and shrubs are all still bare. It was snowing an hour ago. You folks in the eastern part of the US have my boggled sympathy.

On a side note, if you enjoy watching birds at a feeder, check out the Cornell Lab live feeder cam. We leave it on nearly all the time and Mochi (our male geriatric cat) gives it 3 stars! Lets us see birds we never get here like grackles and cardinals.
