What did you do in the garden today?

I'm at my mother's house today and this little fella showed up on door to greet me.
How gorgeous! They look like something from a fairy tale.

Weather is still nuts here and supposed to stay that way till Monday afternoon. I still need to prep the coop for the monsters but it's so nasty and cold. I'll have to take the car out of the garage/barn and work in there. Brats and kraut for lunch today!

what have you done to this planting area so far? The yellow is often lack of nutrients, and Nitrogen is one that allows for green foliage. But, you do not want to over fertilize or over
amend the area, so that is why I am asking what you've already done.
I gave it a little plant tone by espoma.
I mixed it into the soil in n around the row though so not directly to it.

So no luck on seeds so I ordered . People at the greenhouse never heard of what I wanted - yard long beans , Fortex pole beans and English cucumber improved telegraph . It did cost me as some plants came home with me .
I plant yard long beans every season I can. May also be called Asparagus beans (other names too that I can't think of).

I just picked up some Ferry Morse Asparagus Bean seed at either Lowes or Home Depot - the package only had 6 beans in it but 5 have already sprouted. I don't remember such a wimpy number of seeds in a package in previous years.

Chores done early this morning. It's 93 out there bound for 97. The 5/6 week old chicks went in with the 10 week old teenagers a couple days ago. For now they're hiding out in the hiding spots I made for them, but eating and drinking and doing okay. Got the garden watered this morning and now just working on indoor chores/taking some time to rest after a migraine last night.

Slowly chipping away at the major task of organizing my entire pantry. Beginning with washing up all the nice bulk storage containers we decided to buy this month. I'm hopeful that getting everything into containers of the same shape will condense the mess I've been dealing with and allow me to know where everything is at first glance instead of digging.

I need to get outside and work on the big bed a bit. I planted two seeds to a spot when I planted it, with the exception of the spaghetti squash because I had a feeling every last one of those was going to come up, and they did! So I intend to take the weaker of each double set and move it to a spot where a seed failed to germinate. If it lives, great, if it croaks, I'll just replant.

The planting in my watermelon hoop tunnel is almost done, and I relocate my four solar lights from the raised beds to this tunnel. Wow, it looks lovely!

Spent all my day cleaning. Laundry, dishes, vacuuming, dusting, cleaning windows, etc. We have company coming tomorrow (thus the cleaning), so Mother's Day, I'll be doing what I want to do: puttering in the garden.

My strawberries look pathetic this year. I don't know if the deer pawed them/ate them, but there are very few leaves out there right now. I might plant some more crowns for next year, but I'll also use the two raised beds for something this summer. There are some big bare spots that could grow something other than weeds.

Went to the big annual Tomato Plant Sale next door. She is sending folks to me to buy eggs, got to talking and she's moving soon and won't be in the tomato plant business anymore. I think I might have to gear up my seed starting for next year when all her customers are looking for plants.
