What did you do in the garden today?

Let me ask y'all a question - for the people who use fish emulsion to feed with & don't have the means to put it in a system...do you use a sprayer at the end of the hose or do you water by hand with a can?
We mix it by the 5 gallon bucket and hand water with it.
. I’m sitting with the ladies while they graze. My feed bill will be going down a bit. This last bag lasted 19 days rather than 11 or 13 days.
I'm afraid to let the girls graze since the bird flu isn't very far from us. It's a shame since it really lowers my feed costs too.
I’ve added it to unplanted raised beds, and spreading it in the big beds. I’ll add some to the compost if there is too much.

Here it is: light and fluffy…
I'm going to have to see if I can find some of that around here.
Still trying to decide if a water collection system (home made) 300 gal food grade tank with pre flush system. Or hand drive a shallow well?
Let us know which you go with, we're considering both options as well.

Eight of the twelve eggs have hatched so far, not a bad rate for shipped eggs but we'll give the rest more time to be sure. They're easter eggers so as cute as a bugs ear.

Don't you just love them!? The variety of color of eggs (& birds for that matter). & you can beat a chicken with a beard! But man, every one of mine are sketchy as heck. They all hate me & run any time I come near. :smack Jerks.

Got all my seeds and starts planted up. I need to buy more dirt to fill large containers for summer squash and cucumbers. It’s 83F right now. I’m sitting with the ladies while they graze. I know I’ll be tempted but there’s really no space for more vegetables. Wah!
I'm running outta space as well!!!
And gotten only half what all I have seeds for to plant!

I just hatched Easter Eggers too!

My avatar is Glyness, my favorite girl. She and her "sister" were store bought but still tame and sweet. These we just hatched are sure tame right now, they run right to us. I hope they stay that way.

OMG what sweet babies! And what's not to love, sweet mutton chops and lovely eggs. I didn't like the looks of them when I was first thinking of chickens but I wanted the eggs, but now after having some I dearly love their looks and charms. And I have to say, it's nice to know who is laying what.

One of our outside cats is in a bad way today. They are 8 years old. He is not moving but to drag himself no wounds yowling. I heard him outside last night yowling, He is mostly laying on his back ...
I'm sorry about your cat. Do his back legs work? If not, that is really bad news. One of mine had a blood clot at 5 years old, did not make it.

I really should spend more time handling them & I'm sure I'd be better off. I think because I raise them outside & am not really a chicken cuddler I pay when I need to catch one! 🤣 I also think they are a little flighty because they can't see with those big beards, they don't know what's sneaking up behind them, lol. I do love them though, I have 4 & all lay different colors & I know who lays what which is the best.

Look at this poor baby, she still can't see to this day!

Saw the Midwest (Iowa, Nebraska, SD) duststorms on the national news. Looks just like an Arizona haboob during our seasonal monsoons.

You're right to wonder what's in that dust... there's a regional fungal disease called Valley Fever HERE in AZ in the ground that gets stirred up by the haboobs. If one is affected by Valley Fever (including dogs) a lot of people I know go to Mexico for medicine since it's so expensive.
This was nebraska field dust. We're bone dry, and planting hasn't started yet. The storms and their winds originated here, but I'm sure it was full of earthy goodness.
Up-potting is in the rearview and next is changing out the drip irrigation heads in the garden so I can just flip a switch and water. Lines are all there, the heads are just shot.
