What did you do in the garden today?

Most herbicides were banned in our area a few years ago. Amazingly, people keep buying house and businesses stay in business.
People grumbled at first, but then realized the weeds aren't the end of the world.
Municipalities still mow and do upkeep, but have gotten away from the ridiculous idea that everything needs to be pristine and perfect lawns.
If you need fertilizer you can make it from weeds - see David the Good on YT. The problem can be the solution as permaculturist say.

The slugs have found my strawberry beds.... :he
& they have found my lettuce. :smackAsked DH to stop & grab a beer on his way home.

I have 3 carpenter bees in the trap! :yesss:

So I keep almost passing out bending over in the garden. I have low blood pressure & have had bouts of it over the years, it comes & goes, but I've never had it this bad. I'm worried because I work from home & am alone all day, if I pass out there are lots of things to hit my head on in the garden. So...I ordered a Galaxy watch that has fall detection & will call 911. I feel so old, like 'I've fallen & I can't get up". :gigBut I can't wait for it to get here, I'm so scared of passing out. & if I pass out in the chicken run I know those little witches will eat me. :th:drool

Am laughing at the chicken comment.
DH's smart watch has fall and impact detection. He forgot about that. He was wearing it while we were trying to cut alpaca toe nails. They get a tad...um...kicky and bouncy and it's like wresting a 200 pound boy that doesn't want his nails done.
Well Kosmo tried to pick up DH and slammed against the wall while DH was holding him (trying to hold him). The watch announced that a fall was detected and made an alarm, and said if it wasn't deactivated in X seconds 911 would be called. OC that freaked the beasts out even more. But we did indeed turn it off.

It was nice out this morning, but the heat and humidity is creeping back in. Being sunburned from mowing isn't helping me feel hot.

Trimmed the overhanging branches for the mower and pulled a few dead trees from the orchard. Trimmed deer damaged from the orchard and evicted some newly hatched tent worms. Gross things.

Heading out to clean the water reserve tank and wash a shelving unit.

The alpacas kill me! I love grumpy people, so I think they would so crack me up (you know, as long as they weren't mine & I didn't have to trim nails). My sister has an apple watch with it & it detected her fall when she was hiking, she just turned it off because she was fine but it did it's job. We made my mom get one a couple months ago because I get my passing out from her. She passed out in the shower & broke her leg.

My DD bought me an Apple watch with fall detection. One thing I really like is it keeps track of how many times you really fall. But the watch and all the security cameras gives her peace of mind. The rain has held off for now. Finally was able to let the chickens out for an hour. I finished filling the planting containers but I’m waiting to plant the squash and cucumber seeds until tomorrow. The kale and chard are responding really well to the sun, warmth and rain. The laundry is done, the bread is done, I need to do a little ironing before dinner. I was checking the potato patch when I discovered this little peeper. Hopefully he’s just there for the bugs. It’s almost a “Where’s Waldo” shot. He’s well camouflaged.

Can someone please repost the dandelion honey recipe? I want to give it a try, but don't want to search through 4543 pages for it 😵‍💫
Not sure anyone posted a recipe.
But its basically gather 4 cups min flowers, more is better, pinch off the green "collar" should be left with 2+ cups of petals
Cover with 4c good water, boiling let steep an hour. Or boil petals <10min.
Strain. Measure liquid, calculate amnt of sugar needed with pectin choice. Anywhere from 1:1 to 4:1 Add tablespoon of lemon juice. Boil as per pectin instructions. Then jar and can.

I gathered a gallon of flowers and made 10cups of tea, and 6 pints of jelly. 1c sugar per pint.

Most of my pineapples are in pots again and the gutters are cleaned out. Need to start some zinnias and sunflowers, I think both of those will grow in FL in the summer. Dragon fruit cuttings are starting to root to the box I shipped them in! Boy they grow quick here!

Well if your city looks crappy and rundown because there’s weeds and stuff all over who will want to live there and who would want to have a business there? Upkeep is necessary.
I always shook my head at the 3 foot tall weeds in the median right in front of the "Welcome to (neighborhood)" sign where I used to live in Cali. Not going to mention how much those homes sell for. It's a strange world out there
