What did you do in the garden today?

Central WI so we are just starting the planting season. Worked until it was too dark to see last night and then just in this morning with the light rain. Peas, beans, cabbage, broccoli, cauliflower, okra, kale, squash and cucumbers planted. Supposed to rain the next couple days, bummed I didn't get my root bed in.

Dang! I only put 2-3 seeds per bag. Here's hoping its successful! I realize I won't get large yields for canning or freezing, but maybe some nice ears for summer grilling.

I haven't put in any corn yet and suspect that some seeds I put in earlier were lost because of the rain and cool weather. I have a house guest this week, so can't put much, if any, time into the garden, but I hear it calling my name. And guess what a stunt I pulled off: I left the bag of slug bait up there in the rain; didn't see it when I was putting things away. What a slimy mess. Guess I'll put egg shells up there until I can get a new bag of bait. Back to the corn, I wonder whether I might pre-sprout the seeds. No corn germinated last year. Hmmm. Something else to play with.

Worked today, so didn't get to play in the garden. But during the afternoon tour, I saw some cucumbers had sprouted. The tomatoes planted yesterday look good. That's always a plus when they survive the first 24 hours. Peppers are looking good also, and the lettuce is finally sizing up just a tiny bit. Perhaps, if not raining too much, I'll get out and dig up a bed for carrots and beets tomorrow before going to work. Escaped hens trying to figure out how to get under the garden fence. Gave tomatoes and peppers a shot of epsom salt yesterday.

I finally finished got my cabbage in for kroute this fall horse radish in watermelon pumpkin and lettuce in the only thing I'm missing is Cheyenne pepper and muskmellon hope I can find it yet and get that in sometime this weekend and wedded it since I was in the garden already

Planted some marigolds in the vegetable beds, a poblano pepper, and dill. Potted up some rosebud impatients. Ordered a brown turkey fig tree and a couple of blueberry bushes. I hope to grow all three in pots in my south-facing driveway, the sunniest area I have! It was sunny and in the mid-80s today!
