Same....I'm open to suggestions on garlic. I did get a few nice bulbs but most were barely bigger than a walnut.Watered heavily last night, not doing anything today except browsing garlic for sale online. I want to try a different variety that handles higher temperatures better. Taking suggestions!
Yikes- that's four months without rain! WishingWe have clouds again so I'm dreaming of rain! It hasn't rained here since March and our temps have been hovering around 110 for too long already.
I keep looking at everyone's gardens and wanting to rush out and plant! But I know I'm not good at growing this time of year. I'm always trying to find ways to grow with less water and so little likes that!
But it might rain this weekend! My water tanks are all ready in case it does. I opened them up and made sure the faucets are closed. We have 5 of them around our house to catch the roof runoff.
My sweet potatoes are doing well. I never dig them all up. Instead I start watering them in the spring and just wait for them to make an appearance. I love the ease of them and being able to dig some up whenever I want.

And my 4 year old pepper plants survived another winter and are bushing out well so we should start getting peppers soon. They took a beating last winter because my bad foot made me rush covering before freezes...but they survived! Think I'll need to start from scratch next year though...they usually have a drop off in production around this age and they barely survive last winter to boot.View attachment 3152209
I think I got all the caterpillars off my garden huckleberry and its starting to recover. These are 2 year old plants. I was so happy to see them survive the winter also. I don't have to wait for the plants to mature enough to fruit...I just have to stop the bugs from devouring the whole plant!View attachment 3152218
I checked the watercress I added to some of my bucket ponds and its starting to grow.View attachment 3152232
The watercress is my only new addition this season. I've been so distracted by my foot that I skipped all my usual spring planting. Now my foots so close to normal and I'm wishing I hadn't skipped it! Still...I should just focus on getting my property back to normal after a long neglect.
