Oooo, have you always grown watercress? Are there any tricks? DP is planning on growing watercress in her bog filter pond. It grows wild here but I haven't seen any for years.

I've grown watercress off and on for years. It should grow well in a bog filter. It likes moving water for nutrients or some soil to root into a little for the same reason. But, it'll grow as a free floating plant too. You can buy it in the grocery store and throw it where you want it. I like to give it something to support it though or almost all of the plant ends up underwater and messy to harvest. When I had a waterfall tier on our in ground pond it loved to grow in the waterfall. In the bucket ponds I top off the water daily and that stirs the water enough to feed the cress. I use little holey baskets or other plants roots to support it enough to have above water growth.

Here it's in a basket and free floating.

Here it's set to grow with pickerel weed roots as support.

What did you do in your garden today?

I picked a bunch of Rattlesnake green beans and Cherokee wax beans, a few tomatoes, three eggplants, some broccoli shoots, and jalapenos. Pretty happy with today's harvest!

I planted Sunflowers, divided Oregano, and weeded. Has not got into the 70's yet. Summer starts after the 4th of July around here.

Nothing….I am sitting by my incubator waiting! One out, 14 to go! Today is day 20…the literal early bird hatched at the tail end of day 19!

Doing fine at the cabin . Just busy so not fishing yet . Skeeters are terrible but progress is being made reducing their numbers . Fogging , spraying , bug light and pest strips .Put up fly trap and catching lots of flies . Wasp trap not much caught . Bought some plants but not planted yet . Lupine 3 and 1 hollyhock .

Afternoon all. I watered a few things and had to move mulch around the fruit trees because the birds were in there digging. Going to fix that and put a big dent in some other stuff outside tomorrow. @Sueby hurray for a dishwasher! It’s ironic that I was the dishwasher as a kid and now I have a machine to do it that I would hate to live without!

Woodchuck signed his warrant. Traps are set. He is DONE FOR! In between 3 and 6pm he got the Rest of my broccoli and broke off my cabages.
