What did you do in the garden today?

So THAT'S what's been eating my pepper plants!!!! Couldn't figure out how they got eaten so very fast...didn't think a worm could do it so quickly and thought maybe a rabbit had gotten into the fence. I'll be looking for a big, fat, green worm...

Give it to the chickens so you can at least get some of the energy stolen from your plants, in the form of eggs.

This happened to my jalapenos overnight....

Can anyone find the culprit?

Yes folks it's your friendly neighborhood Luna moth caterpillar!

I almost feel like I should let him live.....he's impressive - ate two whole jalapenos along with every single leave off of the plants.

I've had a few of those nearly take my tomatoes. Was its horn black or red?

I pulled up the rest of my sweet corn stalks this morning. Chopped off the roots and put the stalks in my utility trailer so that the sun can dry them out. I plan on using them with my scarecrows & pumpkins for fall decorating.

I also cut off some of my larger spent sunflower heads. I hung them in my shed to finish drying. This is some earlier in the season. The first one got about 6' tall. The multi colored one was almost 8' tall.

Ah, I was just curious, I recently discovered that there are two types of hornworms, Tobacco, and the infamous tomato horn worm.

I think I may try a 3 sisters version next year: using sunflowers as a bean trellis. To give just a bit more support, I may give them a support so the beans don't pull them over sideways.

I tried feeding it to the chicks but he was just too massive. They were interested but no takers. The koi on the other hand...
